In an article today in the New London Day, Marcus Outlow kinda calls UCONN out for being late to the party and thats one of the reasons he chose BC. I'd post link but in not very tech savvy, perhaps someone else can.

Oh well. So maybe the staff dropped the ball or maybe there is more to the story. Either way, there are plenty of prospects in NYC/NE this year...so lets move on.

Just stop. Are you talking about the article from early December? All Outlow said was that UConn has been calling a lot lately. The rest is just DiMauro's tired and old anti UConn twist on things. He was Randy's lackey and a BC grad. Nuff said.

You consider this set-up comment a "diss"???

>>"He even admitted to being a bit miffed at what he perceived to be UConn's late entry into the recruiting process. Outlow said UConn didn't become as active as other schools until late this past season. "It bothered me a little bit," he said.<<

I still say... He ends up somewhere else.

don't you think its time to stop this Anti -DiMauro stuff? The article was fair, Uconn came at the Kid late and it factored into his decision. DiMauro is an icon !!

I do agree there's plenty of talented backs in the NE area this year, however it's a shame that Uconn always attends the party late in it's own backyard. All the top high school players in the state of CT should be offered scholarships before any other school outside of this state. How Boston College, Alabama, and Ohio State offers a scholarship to Outlow before Uconn? makes no sense.

"It bothered me a little bit," << Whether you feel he ends up somewhere else "huskydemic" he's obviously bothered by the fact that he's going to be the #1 player out of CT and his home state university joined the club late... Should not be happening!

Then again it's early in the 2014 recruiting process, so anything can happen. Uconn can still turn recruit heads this year if we win some big games!

One day, you may want to explain to the rest of us how, after you convinced some of us when LV was chosen over us for the ACC, that perception was important and we needed to fight in social media to change perception, it is nonetheless o.k. for you personally to trash the program at every opportunity.

Because I'm sure it's me but I don't get the logic in that.

please justify why we are offering DL down south all over the place but we have a in state kid with a acc and b10 offer already and about to get a 2nd b10 yet uconn has yet to offer. its fine to spray offers and really spread them heavy down south, but where do we get off treating in state kids 2nd or 3rd in line? they aren't just going to fall into our lap like last year. do u have any clue how the ct movement was started last year? noel thomas got on board and the kid did one hell of a job for 11 months on uconns behalf recruiting himself. when baker verbals this weekend and thomas goes to uva and we continue to be slow in the north east, i will bit*h a lot.

i'm not any special set of eye balls to talent on tapes or at games. but i have seen about 6 hl vids of local kids that were clearly bcs caliber to me. please tell me why we offered arkeel newsome so early? how come we can't do that for 8 other ct kids also??? out low went out to camp last summer in b12 territory. heck i remember doing a good post here about his trip and stuff after talking to him. i sent my info to a friend also who could use that info. but for some reason we really dropped the ball and its not just once, its over and over again. maybe coach p should stop going to a recruits bball games who plays in a small upstate ct town vs another hs who has 15 total kids in it and start watching tapes and offering kids before they go elsewhere.

I would think that a guy who swore that we turned down an ACC invite 3 times now would be a little more humble when passing out the clown shoes.............

twice, but whos counting. the acc is falling apart and theres no reason to join it until we get passed by the b10 in favor of others. the acc has and will always have slots. just a numbers game that is what it is.

im glad we can't have a convo about how the staff missed the biggest rb prospect this region has seen since i dont have a name its that long ago and yet the shoes crew bring up the acc invite to hide the failure by the staff. congrats. thumbs up and surfs up brah!

I'm not defending the staff. I'm merely pointing out that you're dead wrong a lot more than you're dead right.

When you're right, you scream from the rooftops ad naseum.

When you're wrong, you give us all a lesson on revisionist history.

Maybe, just maybe Outlaw was not in the top 3 for our RB slots so they did not go hard after him until they saw his senior season.

It's just amazing that a certain someone, with zero college football recruiting experience, can have a keener insight to evaluating talent than NFL/college experience coaches.

We really need to stop feeding the animals.

I want to see two maybe three backs in this class. There are plenty of good backs out there not only in Connecticut but in surrounding states.

How Boston College, Alabama, and Ohio State offers a scholarship to Outlow before Uconn?

Have you seen a published list on the order of the offers? BC may have been ahead of UConn but not sure about some of the others.

Actual offer versus "expressed interest" is another thing.

Quality back but not the end of the world @ this point in the cycle.

You his father? The best a BC grad can do is a small town New London paper? Iconic.

How do you not notice a kid who plays at a local High School that recently sent Matt S. to Wisconsin and Justice to Maryland??

Your response was to a comment talking about the writer of the article so I'm not sure where you are coming from but seeing we had a pretty good OL kid come from NFA so I'm pretty sure NFA is on the map for all involved.

Being that I grew up in Norwich I knew Matt S's cousin and JJ's father.

Wisc actually called Matt when he was a frosh in high school and when Matt said he was only a frosh they said "Oh, we thought you were a junior". Don't know how much contact took place after that but, in HFD terms, they were all over his early and probably often.

I knew a woman who went out with JJ's father many, many moons ago so I knew him.

One night I was at a high school football game and noticed a MD coach at the game. I asked him who he was there to see he said MD really wanted JJ.

You should have seen his face when I said I knew his father. He asked me for my business card and a few weeks later I got a call from him asking me to let JJ's father know how much MD wanted his kid.

I said I certainly would tell him the next time I saw him. Seeing it was 25 years since I spoke to Jim Justice (JJ's dad) I was pretty sure the conversation would never take place. If I ever did see his father I would have told him MD paid me money to talk to him.
