Hate to say this because I love Ollie, however, Pitino made him look like the rook that he is. Didn't press at all the first half and came back gunning with Siva in the second half. It's like uconn never saw the press in their life... Also poor team D in the second half. Depressing to say the least.

Nah. We were gassed, couldn't get a call all game and have less talent/experience. Bad combination. I don't think KO was the issue.

This game wasn't about coaching. Ollie was fine.

Agree. Coaching can only take you so far.

Crazy post. Louisville had more depth and better bigs than UConn. And, did I mention that they were the #1 ranked team in the country?

Look Ollie has been a very good coach this year, but the talent and experience gap tonight was huge.

Ridiculous...Siva sat out the first and L pressed the entire second. If you could not see the discrepancy between the talent on the floor you are the rook.
Not many teams are going to run with Louisville for a whole game. Then to bring out a press that well executed. Right now they are #1 for a reason and it is not because Ollie looked like a rookie.

3 posts, one a crack against the coach. There are trolls everywhere tonight.

In the first half, Ville came out in a press after a time out. I remember thinking at the time we're not ready for this. Instead, they instantly broke the press sending Bazz deep. That's coaching. We eventually got outgunned. We've seen this before. Except we were doing the outgunning.

I don't completely disagree with this post. First of all, it's not a problem for a rookie coach to get outcoached by Rick Pitino; no need to get all riled up about that. KO is a great coach and will continue to be one, but he is not beyond rebuke and does not need to be protected by us. I'm sure he'll be the first one to say he got outcoached tonight if only to deflect the blame from his players. We all know he's been phenomenal thus far.

Second, I just didn't see any adjustments during that ten minute span where we were essentially lifeless. Certainly, the majority of this falls on the players: Louisville was fresher than us and was playing outstanding defense; our guards were getting frustrated; and a cycle was born. Still, when things are going that badly, you have to try something different, and I just didn't see it.

Oh just stop. Louisville clearly has more overall talent, is far deeper, and wore them out.
Did Ollie just lose his ability to coach after being up 8 early in the second half?
Give Louisville the credit, they are GOOD
True, but we were stil out coached. Correct me if I'm wrong but we were out scored by 23 after we were up 8 in the second half. Right about the same time Pitino went to the press

I, for one, cannot believe a hall of fame coach may have out schemed a guy with inferior talent and in his first season.

The sleuthing is, as always, extraordinary.

Seriously, what would you have liked KO to do? He's playing the hand he was dealt. You think more Brendan Allen would have solved it?

I'm a troll? I was at the game wearing a uconn shirt cheering the team off. I'm just a bit disappointed about the way they came out the second half. Maybe it wasn't coaching, but the team did not look ready. I am embarassed

He didn't go to the press as a result of some brilliant coaching move, he couldn't press as he normally does because of Siva sat out with foul trouble in the first half.

I'm sure you're great, but there's nothing more dipshi**y than saying you are personally embarrassed after a college team that you root for loses, especially this team against the team they were playing tonight. Who gives a **** how you feel? Who the **** are you to be embarrassed?
This might be my favorite post ever. If there were only some second part of it that made it inspirational I'd think McCracken was the muppet

Between "outcoached" and "they quit" I'm thinking this is a night to stay far away from this board.
We lost. That's the No. 1 team for a reason. Move on to Pitt.

It's disheartening because of TO's great last game but I now saw what the sheer athleticism and talent did to to our 5's tonight, that is not something that can be coached away. How many layups did their guards have uncontested. Great help shot blockers like we had in the past would not have put up with that and Bazz and Boat were burnt toast. With experience Boatright could be better than Siva in 2 years.

Why would you be embarrassed? Maybe because you were cheering the team off?
A team that nothing was expected of is having a good season so far and lost to the consensus #1 in the nation.
Unless you had a hand in this outcome you really should not feel embarrassed. This unless you were in the student section and was caught on camera with your shirt on....

Hang in there. This is child's play! The heat really gets turned up when there is a three or more game losing streak. I encourage you to develop a toughness and stand up strong against the negative posters. It's a great way to develop emotional fortitude!

I'm not sure why, but I was honestly surprised to come here to find threads about how we quit. We got beat by maybe the best team in the country. That's it. And, surprise, losing isn't always pretty.
