Miami didn't need a travel partner. But what they needed was their rival in the same conference.

isn't that what a travel partner is? In the end, they don't travel together...

I'm inclined to think that the folks who actually left, Syracuse and Pitt, are the biggest culprits. Don't forget Syracuse has been trying to get out since 2002. Remember, they were going if the governor of Verginia hadn't stepped in and demanded that virginia vote for VaTech. They've been trying to leave since. Pitt's President was Chairman of the Big East. Even if it wasn't illegal, it was certainly unethical to serve in that position while negotiating to destroy the league. And some of the blame has to go to Marinatto for being totally clueless to what was happening in his own conference. But you're right that Luck's spouting off didn't help matters very much. Bottom line is that there is blame to go around, but first and foremost it lies with the guys who actually decided to leave.

that's interesting. From that perspective, it's actually the Govenor of Virginia's fault. Imagine if SU went to the ACC instead of VT. It can be argued that the ACC would have suffered through SU's darkest years without the benefit of VT's dominance. WVU and VT would have had a great rivalry for BE championships over the years. Pointless "what ifs"
