I really like our path to the Final game. As so many point out, many things (injuries, upsets and bracket assignments) can disrupt which teams make it to the Final Four, but I think everything sets up nicely for us.
Do any of you think we will lose (not loose) either of our first two games at Storrs? I don't think so. Assuming chalk results, next up would be Ohio St and I think our 2024 group will be looking, and getting, payback for 2023. "The" OS will realize quickly that a couple of thing are different this year rather than what they faced last year: Can you say Paige and can you say 3-4 (PB, KK, NM and Ash) Huskies able to break their press instead of just one last year? I envision a double digit W.
Last up in our way to the FF is USC and it's not the one in South Carolina. They have proved to be very beatable and as far as I'm concerned should not be a #1 seed. Sure they have a great Freshman, but I'd take our top 5 over their's to win 8 out of 10 times. Their biggest advantage is that this game would be on the West Coast and the crowd would probably be very pro So. Cal.
The next game could be the most watched and talked about game in NCAA Women's Tournament history if Iowa can come out of its Region. I can't imagine the scalper price on tickets to watch Clark vs Bueckers. However , for this to happen, CC and her crew will likely have to get past either UCLA or LSU. Whoever we would face in the Semi-final game will be a tough match-up but doable. If we can get over that hurdle:........................................................................
Then it's on to the other USC and in a one game-winner take all, who knows. Maybe our team is looking for a bounce back from our earlier game in Columbia We certainly would not be favored but anything is possible. If Geno's speculation about Liya leaving for the draft turns out to be accurate, (Mods, Geno said it not me) wouldn't it be nice to give Nika and Liya an over-the top-parting gift?
