We were clearly the best last year, statistically and otherwise. best in CBB in the last 25 yrs or something, Hurley said.

Q. With the change in roster make-up, what modifications, if any, are made to our offensive system and style of play next season ?

I don't even care. Hurley is freaking remarkable and he has proven he can make the best out of whomever is on the roster...and next year's may even be better than the last 2.

Hurley has said he doesnt have a system. Every team is different in terms of talent and abilities and he coaches to the personel. So this is a good and important question. In fact it is the the 2nd most important question going into our season, on top of, who is going to be on our team. Now that we know AK is back, this is the time to ask this question.

He may not have a system but he does have a formula as he has said. But i see what you are saying as the `23 teams starting 5 had different style of players in it compared to `24 but it was the same system with an even better result. Newton was the pg so that was the same but Spencer was very different than Hawk, Castle very different from Ajax, Ak was Ak and Sanogo was very different than Clingan but it all worked the same way. Then you look at the bench its also a whole different thing but the same with Samson, Diarra, Stewart and Ball. Not sure if its a system or formula but whatever it is Hurley has it running like clockwork and i believe this team should be in the mix yet again and other teams need to figure out how to deal with it or rolled again in March.

I was watching some early season games from 23 (PK 81) because of Walton's passing and ended up focusing on the offense at that time and it was so very different than what UConn ran this past year. Ended up watching the final four games from 23 also. A lot of the same basic philosophy (movement on and off the ball, high post passing from bigs, lots of screening, use the clock to grind a good shot) but the actual plays were very different.

Overall the philosophy will be the same but the actual plays will probably change quite a bit with the new players. It's all about getting players their best shots.

the staff can adapt the system to the players and what they are good at. prob expect even more space and cutting, but if Reed can take a leap and revive his face up game from high school days then he might figure into it a lot more than people expect.

I loved Andre Jackson and appreciated his unique skills, but that one personnel change from him to Stephon Castle made a huge improvement in the offense for the 24 team. Castle constantly looked to take the ball inside, which Andre was reluctant to do or just didn’t. And another change was getting Cam Spencer on the team- if I had to choose between having him or Hawkins, I would take Cam- he was so versatile scoring around the basket, plus Cam was just as good an outside shooter in my opinion.

I definitely fall into the “if it isn’t broke, then don’t fix it” camp. With that said, next year’s roster appears to be deeper than it has been the past two years. Might that allow us to play more up tempo or perhaps even apply more full court pressure defensively?

We arguably have more shooting than the last two teams, and a lot less in the post, pending seeing what Reed can do. I would expect this team to play at a faster pace than last year. It will be interesting to see if Dan let's Samson shoot.

Our offense feeds off our rebounding which we have dominated during our runs. Now with AK back maybe someone can analyze how our defense and rebounding will be this season.

Hurley has said his offensive has ten sets and there are around five options for each of these sets. So yeah, that is a system. It is a system that can be tailored to personnel because it so large and diverse.

And this year, you will see many teams imitating Hurley's system

DH's past offensives have relied heavily on the interior bigs game/abilities whether it be setting screens, pick and roll, etc. He's had Whaley, AS, DC. Going into 24-25 he has a very limited Samson, an incoming 5* freshman and an unproven UMichigan xfer. This may prove to be either an Achilles heal or pleasant surprise. That to me is the hugest ? heading into the upcoming season.

It's going to be a great offense filled with movement, cutting and shooting. Multiple unselfish guys who won't let the ball stick in their hands but are a threat to hit a jumper if you leave an opening. With more Diarra and Samson we should also run and get into transition more with them on the floor. I do have some defensive concerns having lost the glue guy who could cover the 1s, 2s or 3s in castle and clingan rim protecting.

I agree, not only do we have a system, we have the very best system. I expect the offense to be, for the most part, the same next year, adjustments will be made as needed.

I am SUPER EXCITED for 2024-25 and I do believe we have a real chance at a 3-peat but, man, people seem to have no idea how hard it is going to be replace two lottery picks AND a 1st team All American. Oh, and Cam Spencer too.

This summer, Sampson needs to learn how to stay on the court by not fouling. I watched the NC game again and most of his 5 fouls in 5 minutes were avoidable, especially the moving screen foul. One would think that for as many of those calls he endured during the season, he would have figured it out by April. Is he capable of learning that this summer?

Oh boy. You do realize last years team may have the most dominant team in college basketball since the UCLA days of the 1960’s

This year's system will probably evolve from last as our roster has changed and we now have even more elite shooters on the floor with willing passers, screeners, and bucket getters.. Elements will remain.. but Reed (like Sanogo did) allows the staff to incorporate back to basket post additions to the sets.... Honestly i can't wait to see what unveils & i suspect they will continue on the path they started down 2 years ago.. I suspect Luke is scouting some Pilipino league as i type this, uncovering some new way to run slips and flares out of horns..

Just like it was gonna be hard to replace Hawkins and Jackson and Sanogo the year before. We might repeat, we might not, but next year's team is really talented and has plenty to replace what was lost

Hurley said they came up with 10 offensive sets last year as their base not that those 10 are the only sets for the offense….id guess there will be 3 or 4 new sets this year to fit the current personnel

Incredibly talented, just as Hurley said maybe his most talented. But, last year had a lot more known/semi-known quantities. This year certainly has less. Not necessarily a bad thing, just harder to project.
