It's frustrating when our Bigs waste so many of their precious five fouls, but when the game was on the line last night, it was free throw shooting by Olivia and Alliyah that helped make the difference. But it wasn't just that, they both played key roles on both ends of the floor. Perhaps the most important play of the game was the charge AE took from Cameron Brink for her 4th foul. It was a gut punch that diminished Brink's effectiveness on scoring and defense, and seemed to take the air out of Stanford.
I was nervous when Liv stepped to the line in the final quarter, but she had a different, more calm and confident look. Sure enough her T.O.W. Missle, linedrive shots were right on target. And it was djea vu when Alliyah got intentionally fouled. I'm pretty certain most of us were outraged that anyone other than Paige or Azzi would dare have a pass thrown to them. But with a confident look and demeanor, she made them both.
It was awesome to see the clutch play of Olivia and Alliyah when the team needed them the most. Great job.
