I can't believe the Colts actually snapped that ball, how do you not take a delay of game being that your at midfield and you would save a 2nd half TO. Sio Moore should start for the Colts already their D sucks.
 
Never have seen anything like it. None of the Colts fans had any idea what was going on either.
 
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...that had to be the dumbest play ever!!!!!! 2 patriots on either side of the hiker with 2 guys behind them and they snap the ball to a guy with no protection. that was rich. I don't think we will ever see a play like that in the pros again. Wow......I haven't stopped laughing so much my stomach is killing me.
 
I am so glad that we can say that Jim Irsay owns the team that has made the dumbest play in hstory.
 
No one is talking about the fact that they weren't lined up right, so no good could have come out of that play even if the Patriots had somehow blown it.

So for those saying it's on the players, not Pagano, you're missing something. He installed a trick play without emphasizing how to line up for it.

And at the end of the game the Patriots perfectly execute a gimmick play of their own and have Jamie Collins jump over an extra point formation and block the kick. Belichick did that just for laughs.

And the entire football world believes that the Patriots need to cheat to win.

I can't imagine Pagano keeping his job.

It wasn't for laughs. Pats were up by 13 before that TD. Blocking the kick preserved a 7 point lead. Belichick had that play in his pocket and waited until it mattered to use it.

For what it's worth, the earlier Colts onside kick was brilliantly done. Hit hard enough that it didn't yield great field position to the Pats (35 yard line) but gave the Colts a real chance.

Oh that's right...you were there! I hope you had a nice loud hearty laugh at the expense of those fools. But not too loud...I wouldn't want the Patriots to lose their 2nd round pick too.

There was 1:19 on the clock on the Collins play. Ball goes to Patriots and it's take a knee time. Belichick did it not because he needed the point. He did it to make every opposing coach put it in their practice routine as another thing you have to worry about. And he did it in the context of Pagano's screw ups. A perfect gimmick play at the perfect moment that he knew would work. Patriots players were laughing and it made Pagano look even more inept. Let's see if the Colts fire him.

Onside kicks are pass - fail. Colts got an F. There is no brilliance unless you get the ball. It's a very cold blooded play.

Um...onside kick could have been recovered. TD pass, Pats lose. The point mattered. Unquestionably.
 
The funny thing is this one wasn't in hindsight, its not as if the Colts didnt have time to realize and say to themselves ok this play will not work take a delay of game.

You have to believe that the Colt's gimmick play was a direct result of how the Patriots had come out in weird formations against the Ravens, always pushing the envelope. You just know Irsay said to Pagano--"Why don't you ever try some of those outside the box plays that Belichick runs. Where's your imagination?"
 
I would hope that it was Irsay's idea. Nothing better than making him look like complete ass.

I have no doubt. But the fact remains that he called for it, and evidently hadn't practiced it enough.

The fact that Reggie Wayne, all time great WR for the Colts, quit his comeback with the Patriots after a little training camp time tells me what I need to know. The Pats practice and work much harder than the Colts. Than anyone probably.

They were laughing at themselves. They were cheering the back door cover like it was an accomplishment.

Stole this from elsewhere, but it sums things up pretty well:

Pagano saw:
  • The Patriots’ defense adjust to the ploy, with a minimum of confusion, so there didn't appear to be hope of forcing the Pats to waste a timeout.
  • The Patriots leaving no eligible player uncovered and no mismatch to exploit.
  • No substitutions by the Patriots, so no chance for the 12-men-on-the-field penalty.
  • No Patriots player lining up offside, or jumping offside.
  • The majority of own players lining up one yard behind the LOS, and so about to get flagged.
  • Lastly, Whalen and Anderson, the snapper and QB for the play, looking like they were going to go through with snapping the ball as the play clock wound down.
He saw all this, but didn't signal for a timeout himself.

I know taking a TO by the Colts would be a "loss" on the play, but it would be pretty minor compared to actually snapping the ball, getting stuffed and turning it over on downs inside their own 40.

Also, the Colts punter said they began working on that play last season. I can't imagine that meant they were spending time at every practice on it, but it had been kicking around for a little while. It's hard to believe that when the anticipated benefits of the play (TO, offsides by the Patriots, one or no defensive players around the ball) didn't materialize and the defense was ready to stop the ball carrier, the players didn't just take the delay of game penalty or the coaches didn't call a timeout just in case the players were really going to run the play.
