Other games tonight 1/24

Auburn making last minute comeback vs A&M
Yeah they've turned them over and gotten timely buckets. And A&M has not handled the pressure well.

65-65 with 1:13 to play.

And Arizona played them. In a tournament, at least. But still . . .

So did UW. Not in a tournament. I guess you can kind of forgive the scheduling since they are cross town schools (you can't call them rivals though). The worst part is UW had a hard time putting them away and it was a fairly close game.

Maybe I missed it, don't think anything subsequent was posted. Maryland-tOSU was tied at the end of Q1 but the Terps outscored them each subsequent quarter and won 70-57.

Ouch Minnesota. They went 11-5 last year, already surpassed that loss total.

Rutgers may be Transfer U, but conference rival Indiana's top two scorers are high-profile transfers Ali Patberg (Notre Dame) and Brenna Wise (Pitt).

Pitt could have actually had a few decent teams if all their players stayed/were healthy. Naje Gibson was the centerpiece of their ranked recruiting class in 2014 and never made it to campus. Diop and Carey left. Brenna Wise left too.

San Francisco (the real USF in Triad's words) whittled away a 13 point halftime deficit and got fairly close to Gonzaga, but GU blowing it open in Q4, now up 21.

A&M wins by 2 over Auburn. This year looking much better after a shaky start, now 15-4 and 4-2 in conference.

Seattle University (0-18) leading Chicago State (1-16), 29-2.

:eek::eek::eek: Throw out the record books

If mushrooms are on a victory pizza, what do the losers get - anchovies? ebola?

Mushrooms are essential on loaded pizza..... but I'll save that for an off-season OT thread

Seattle U. hung on for a 90-54 win. Uh, how bad is Chicago St. if they lost by 36 to a team that was 0-18?!

Massey has them at #630 overall - behind 200+ D2 schools and 50+ D3 schools.. That's, um, not good.

Chenedy Carter with the Game winner with a nice controlled drive to the basket. One of her more composed and efficient efforts although her FT shooting almost lost it for them.

It's been posted here before, but the New York Times did a feature article on the Chicago State WBB team that is, let's say, sobering and eye-opening. Fans tend to spend almost all their energy fixating on the upper echelon of Division I teams. This is a look at how the other half lives.

Her Team Is 0-24, but She Might Deserve Coach of the Year Honors

Miss St over Florida in a squeaker, 90-42. How in the hell did Mizzou lose to Florida?

T pulled one of her disappearing acts with 2 pts and 6 rebounds, but Howard, the guards and the youngsters took up the slack.

MSU 20 assists and 10 TOs. 16 steals.
Florida 4 assists and 27 TOs.

MSU bench outscores Florida 43-42.

AEH got her first start at MSU last night, but she picked up 2 quick fouls in the first quarter. She played 13 minutes and had 4 pts on 2 for 4 shooting.

Interesting article. I think there are probably a lot of teams competing at the D1 level who really shouldn't be, and would be better served in D2.
