Thursday night football is here.

Buffalo up 17-6 on Ken State on CBS Sports.

I'd like to ask Edsall if he thinks we can be as good as Buffalo someday.

Lance Leipold
2019 5-4 <-- winners of three in a row: 21-0, 43-20 and 43-10.
2018 10-4

Down 27-6 with 8 min to go, Kent St rolls off 3 TDs including 1 after onside kick recovered by K who subsequently wins the game with a last second FG.

Good show Buffalo!

So Buffalo used the HCRE2.0 "it's never to early to sit on a lead" game closing strategy, nice! At least they got a chance to use it, been few and far between when UConn ever has a lead in a game (especially 2nd half).

.-.
Come on NW, you got to score 60 on UMass to help ensure our all time worst 2018 team defense is replaced by the UMass 2019 campaign.

I can’t say I am surprised Navy is getting crushed- I thought they looked pedestrian at times even though they ultimately crushed us.

And I see the UMass game ends with NW scoring just 45... crap. BYU needs to score 60 next week.

Watching OHIO state at Rutty; looks like a walk through practice for OSU.... their OL and DL just so superior.

Nope, they just need 30 pts to break our record. UMass is at 576 given up after 11 games.

But I thought the triple option would save UCONN

In NC and went to Duke/Orange game with son (also UConn grad) for something to do. Had at most 10,000 fans and bet 1/2 were Orange. Duke did a very good UConn impersonation. How could my boys at Massey have Duke a 10 point favorite when they lose by 43.
It looked like Duke had 7 guys on the field on defense and the Orange had 15 on the field on defense. Duke ran tight formations and Orange were going one on one with WR's because Duke QB couldn't pass long and got little time in pocket. Orange outplayed duke a lot in 1st half but only led by 8. Duke tried to stop pass and Orange ran, Duke tried to stop run and Orange passed.

I guess it depends on your definition of “save”. Navy is 7-2 and ranked in the top 25. If UCONN fans would be happy with that, then utilizing the triple option might make sense. If they are happy with their current situation, then they should stay the course.

UCONN isn't playing the AAC as if next year and will be playing schools similar to ND this year. The triple option will do nothing but make UCONN look even worse than they are now.

you really think the AAC is that terrible.

AAC is the Big XII light. It's all offense and no defense. Any of the AAC teams, outside of maybe memphis and cincy, would get killed by any team that has a half way decent defense. Navy did barely anything once they faced a defense that could contain the QB.

Nope, they just need 30 pts to break our record. UMass is at 576 given up after 11 games.

Using sports reference, it appears UConn in 2018 allowed around 605 points (50.4 pts per game average X 12 games).

Meanwhile UMass in 2019 has allowed as you noted 576 which is 52.4 points per game. So thats a difference of 28 points or so ...so yeah looks like if BYU scores 30 this weekend we are dethroned from a ignominious record.

Unfortunately it appears our record for average yardage allowed (and total yards) will remain intact. We finished 2018 allowing an average of 619.1 yards per game, while UMass is at just 553.5.

This year our team defense is up two slots to #128 with 40.6 average points & 452.2 for average yards allowed per game. Temple and ECU will be looking to push this up.
