Be sure you ask what your costs are for the second year. Also understand what happens if you have to cancel your Direct TV.

Who will be your internet provider? What do you watch on cable that you need directTV? Can you get what you are getting now somewhere cheaper?

Roku, Amazon TV or Firestick with Sling TV Orange and Bl;ue with Sports addon and a $60 HDTV antenna. You can get watch ESPN with Sling TV. If you need CBSSN, then maybe change out Sling for Hulu Live. You will save at least $80 per month once the trial offer expires

Iv'e had Direct Tv in the past. The weather can play havoc with satellite. Many times if there is a heavy rain or heavy snow in the area, it will interfere with it, and your picture will freeze up. It can be pretty annoying .

This sounds like a nightmare and not worth the money that I would be saving at the end of a two year contract.

I have had DT for a year. It's great and much cheaper. Make sure that the Dish points correctly and gets 95%. Recommend a roof install.

I've had Direct TV for almost 20 years and wouldn't have anything else. I know southwest exposure is key so you need to make sure that works in your location.

I’d still have directv if I could see the southwest sky. But I would still be paying a premium for internet through Comcast. Internet HAS to be cable. Unless you have google fiber, in which case, I hate you.

We've had DT for years glad we don't have it on the roof, easy to clean off snow if you live in a cold weather climate.

Have had DirecTV for 18 years and Cox internet. Not changing a thing. Signal goes out maybe 2-3 times a year for a few minutes. Nothing life altering

I've had DirecTV since 1998 and I'll never change. Once the introductory commitment is up, you'll end up paying what your current provider is charging. Xfinity offers the same thing to me every year. 2 years at half price and then everything equals out to what I currently pay with DirecTV. That's how the providers get people to switch. I've shopped Xfinity several times.

For me, the reason I say is the ease of use. You can edit your channel list so you don't have to see 85 shopping channels and 200 channels you don't subscribe to in your guide every day. The HD stations are the same number as the Standard Definition (SD) channels and you can choose to hide one or the other. You don't have to find channel 3 for CBS and 787 for CBS-HD.Every so often I call DirecTV and say "Cancel Service" into the automated menu and end up with a "Retention Specialist". After 10-15 mins on the phone, I get $30-$50 off my bill for a year.

Yes, weather can affect signal, but my neighbors lose cable more often and for longer periods than I do. I only lost service briefly in last weekend's crazy rain storm. When I switched to the SD channel I was able to watch without an issue. (SD satellites have a stronger signal for us in CT.)

Deficiencies that I see with DirecTV:

1. If you are a big On-Demand user, DirecTV might not be for you. I find it somewhat limited in offerings. Quick example: I've been wanting to get into "Vikings" on History Channel, but only the most recent season is available. Not sure how if it's the same with cable companies, but friends seem to say there is much more available on cable.

2. You can't watch everything on your mobile device. Certain networks don't have agreements with DirecTV for streaming contents, including SNY. So even if you get SNY at home, you still can't get it on your phone or tablet. You'll also never get a network NFL game on your phone unless you pay for the Sunday Ticket. CBSSN, ESPN family are good!

3. You have to find an alternative for your Internet. I've never heard anything good about HughesNet which is DirecTV's satellite internet service. We had SNET/AT&T which was bought by Frontier. Frontier sucks for service. You could always keep Xfinity internet, but that may defeat the purpose of your cost savings.

I just talk to my X1 remote and it brings me to what I want. If I want to see a college football game I just say "college football" and it lists all current games and future games. If I want to watch ESPN I just say "ESPN" and it brings me there.

I can also ask it about traffic before I head to work and it will show me any delays in the area. Netflix integrates with it also, so if a show isn't in Comcast's database but is on Netflix it will pull it up for you to see. X1 and Contour from Cox are likely the best UIs in the video game at this point.

You know it listens to you all of the time. What are they doing with all of the conversations you are having that do not cause it to change your TV or give you traffic reports?

Well, you do have to push and hold a button before speaking into it. But lets say it does listen even when the button isnt pressed - I still could not give a care in the world. The same could apply to our cell phones, NEST cams, ect.
