What a coward. I'd suspend him for the first round of the playoffs. The guy just doesn't get it.

This - I wouldn't even be opposed to suspending him for the rest of the season. That was just so over the top. You could literally kill someone by doing that.

What a garbage play.

I misread your headline - I was hoping it said "Metta Peace Arrest".

What a piece of cowardly thing to do. He should be suspended clearly for the rest of the year, if not longer. I hope Harden doesn't have a broken jaw or concussion.

Best line this year: "Lamar could return as a ball boy. The first player to return as a ball boy and earn a Skittles merit badge. Just have fun. You’re getting paid"

The Laker fans saying it was accidental crack me up. Look at the video, you'll see that Artest makes contact with Harden before reaching back and launching his elbow into the air. He says he was "celebrating" the dunk. What a load of . Who celebrates by tossing their elbow through the air? If you think it's accidental I want whatever you're smoking.

The fact that he denied intent makes me think he should be suspended for AT LEAST the first round of the playoffs

He's going to get a big suspension, and he should, but I doubt there was any ill intent. I'd be shocked if he even knew who he elbowed. The man is a lunatic. He had just dunked, the crowd was loud and he got himself so fired up he lost all sense of what he was doing. I dont think he felt aggrieved by Harden or was trying to hurt him, he's just a mentally unstable dude.

Now, saying he didnt mean to hurt anybody is one thing, but it's worth asking whether the NBA should employ a guy with such a tenuous connection to reality.

I agree, just from looking at the replay and focusing on Artest's eyes and where his head was directed I don't even think he knew who he elbowed. But the fact that he was swinging his elbows around like that so violently without any regard to who was in his way speaks to just how mentally unstable dude is.

First of all it was not accidental. A man that big and strong could kill someone like that. Does Hardin own any of the responsibility? I love Hardin, but he is an agitator and MWP was having a day. It looked like he came up to MWP and it was probably a mano moment. Metta has many issues, with emotional stability being the biggest, and with Hardin talking to him , it may have set him off. In any event he deserves a strong suspension. The first round of the playoffs seems okay, but I say the rest of the season screw that crazy idiot.

Harden gets a pass, I don't care what he said to him. Artest has a history, I hope they throw the book at him. Wonder what Lamar Odom is thinking this morning.

No blood, no foul.

LOL Flop of the year!

Let'm play, not sure why anyone is surprised. He's been good the past few years compared to his earlier years in the league. It's the playoffs, it'd be stupid for the league to suspend him anymore than 2 or 3 games. I bet thats the last time Harden gets in another Laker player's face.

Yes. Being down for a long period of time after getting elbowed in the back of the head by a 6'7" man is "Flop of the year." That's absurd.

Similarly, Harden was trailing the play, and Artest turned into him. Harden didn't get "in [his] face" as you absurdly suggest--which suggests being an aggressor, with intent to intimidate. It looks to me like he was merely gliding to the left to get better spacing for the inbounds, and Artest turned into him. It happened very quickly. You can't get in someone's face if you never see each other.

Artest is a joke. He should be out for the playoffs. There's no place for that sort of bush league play in sports.

Well he had to "sell" the hit. His sell would have made Vince McMahon proud.
