Nothing nefarious:

>>But Lashlee had a relationship with UConn athletic director David Benedict, who had worked at Auburn, and Randy Edsall being a defense-oriented head coach would give Lashlee the autonomy he wanted. With Lashlee coordinating the offense, UConn finished No. 102 nationally in scoring, but it was an improvement of nearly nine points per game, and the Huskies rose from No. 122 in total offense (320 yards per game) to No. 50 (415.2).

>>Lashlee didn’t plan to leave after one season, especially for another job within the American Athletic Conference, but the opportunity to work with Dykes at SMU while still getting to run the offense, plus living closer to family in Arkansas, made it very appealing.<<

Well, we had that figured out around here.

Short of giving Lashlee some sort of coach in waiting title, he was always going to be on a short term stay at UConn. That said even if he was given some sort of assurance, there was no guarantee that Randy would be looking to move on in the next few seasons. Taking a job closer to family and with greater access to high level recruits made perfect sense for him.

We loved seeing the wide open offense and MORE scoring with Lashlee.

However, the HCRE point also can be equally true: His no-huddle rush the clock Offense was also painfully damaging to a new inexperienced defense. They were on the field way too long ... and too exhausted due to lack of Depth (Diaco).

This came across my sports pages at The Athletic. About the coaching change at SMU, and Lashlee is mentioned - why UConn and now why SMU.

At SMU, a meeting of the minds before meeting on the...

Really liking the sports reporting there... I got some insight on Hurley there too.

I'm not paying to read it but why don't you forward it to UConn so they get a heads up on what to focus on?

I'm pretty sure BlueDogs already determined he was run off by Edsall because he's a control freak and wanted "his guy"? I mean, what authority does Lashlee really have on this subject anyways?

Was there a guy named Lashlee on the UConn coaching staff in the past? Tough to tell when you are looking forward.

Looking forward to the spring game for clues about this upcoming season. I also suspect it will be Connecticut's first day of the year well above 70 F. Gonna be glorious.

When your defense coughs up 50 on the reg, you’ll find yards and points come easier.

Up 56-14 with the third team defense in prevent has that effect.
