Since I've moved back to this area I'm going to follow the Creighton Bluejay and Nebraska at Omaha WCBB teams.

It's been over 20 years since I went to any Creighton BB game and their campus has expanded considerably. The men's team plays in the huge auditorium downtown where all the biggest acts play and the team nearly sells out every game.

The women however don't have as big a following but they play in a nice venue that has been built since I lived in the area. The best thing about it is I can sit right behind their bench.

The Nebraska at Omaha (formerly known as UNO) WCBB team plays at a state of the art venue that has been recently built just for them. They have a big video screen above the playing floor and plenty of seats (although not a lot of people come to the women's games). Which is A-OK with me cause once again, I get to sit right behind the bench. They have this remote controlled blimp that goes around the place and drops prize envelopes on people during halftime. It dropped one right in front of me but I was too slow to get it. This little girl in the seats in front of me snatched it (she was quick as a cat!).

The seats are cheap for both teams so I'm happy as can be.

I've had my eye on UNO for a while - they've been TOTALLY awful. This year, not so much. Lucky you...

UNO has a forward named Makaela Shaw who's a really good inside scorer and a guard named Remy Davenport who scored over 30 points a couple of games ago. Remy scored over 20 points in the first half of that game. I hadn't even noticed cause the team seemed to be struggling.

Creighton has a nice forward named Audrey Faber who is good with the treys but needs to take more shots. I like their point guard named Jade Owens also.

I'm going to post pics of their new basketball facility. It's the best I've seen in the country! (Pssst- high-schoolers should consider this university to play for)

One thing I need to add about the UNO team- the coach is an absolute living doll!

Going to another UNO game tonight. Remy Davenport has big games the last two times she's played at home. On Sunday she scored 30 points. I wonder if she'll have another tonight?

Last night's game was pretty awesome.

Oral Roberts coaching staff had their team well prepared and pretty much shut down UNO's two best scorers. Remy had guards pasted to her the entire game and Makalea Shaw couldn't operate in the middle as she usually does cause ORU had a couple of "trees" guarding the middle who were just too tall for her to get the baskets she usually does. ORU was hot in the first half and had a big lead going into the 2nd half but cooled off a little in the 2nd.

UNO tied the game with secomds left but an ORU guard hit a last second shot to steal the game from the Mavs. There weren't programs available so I didn't know anything about the ORU players. They only had 8 suited for the game but they didn't need more. They might match up pretty good with UCONN should they meet in the NCAAs.

BTW- I had a seat in the second row right behind UNO's bench!

PS: One of the ORU guards looked at me during pre game warm-ups like she knew me. Maybe she saw me at one of the games back east...

Went to watch UNO play South Dakota State last night.

It started out kinda weird cause UNO was out warming up by themselves when I got there about 15 minutes before the game. I was thinking that SDS may have been having trouble getting to the game for some reason.

I guess they were OK cause they came out a couple of minutes before the game was supposed to start and took a couple of warm-ups and were ready to go!

UNO looked like they were ready for a good game but couldn't get anything going. SDS was sharp right from the beginning of the game and had a big lead at halftime. They play a lot like UCONN and run good full-court press. They have several nice big girls playing the middle and spread the scoring amongst all the players. IMO-they would match up with UCONN better than any team I've seen them play this year and if they had things go their way it could be UPSET CITY, BABY!

UNO could not catch up. Shaw was the only regular who did OK.

I went to Creighton's final home game of the season yesterday. They played DePaul and pretty much got blown out. I'd hate to see what UCONN would do to them. It's interesting to see what different levels teams are at. Creighton beat UNO pretty easily and now they get beat by DePaul who got pasted by UCONN.
