It's better than cable but not as good as DirecTV.

My in-laws have it and the tv service is good for them. There are some issues with their On Demand service going out periodically and when AT&T is doing work in the area they lose service for short periods of time. However, now that most of Madison is equipped for it, this has happened less frequently.

We switched to UVerse from Comcast well over a year ago. We basically like it, but it isn't perfect. Once in a while my internet connection speed slows down a little because they use phone lines for the connection, but even then it really isn't slow, maybe a 3-4 second delay as opposed to immediate. I like the TV service, although other providers are catching up to them in the ability to do multiple DVRs at the same time and then watch them on whatever TV you choose if you have more than one. The 400 package includes a lot of sports channels and a lot of premium channels. The On -Demand is a little bit more limited on free stuff compared to Comcast, but the difference is hardly noticeable. We do have their phone service, which is one reason we switched. We had ATT phone service anyway so their bundle was a little cheaper than Comcast. At one time we had Comcast digital phone service as part of their bundle and we had constant problems with it, so dropped that, making their service TV and internet service and ATT's separate phone service more expensive. When UVerse came out, we decided to do their whole bundle. We have have very good luck with their digital phone system.

All of these companies now have this tiered customer support system which is basically a scam. Their free techies supposedly "aren't trained" to handle more complicated technical issues and they refer you to these for pay outfits where you can pay by the job or get a discount with a monthly charge, cancelable at will. Uverse uses that system as does Comcast and I'm guessing Cox and the others.

I signed up for U-Verse about a month ago, I switched from Comcast. I've been very happy with it so far. Picture is clearer, user interface for DVR and On-Demand is light years better. I got the 12Mb fiber optic internet, its not noticeably different from what I had from Comcast. Only downside is the U-Verse router is wireless G, but I was still able to hook up my dual band N router as a wireless access point and get 802.11n speeds for my equipment.

In my master bedroom, they decided to deploy a wireless cable box since he was worried about all the extenders in my coax at home (the home wiring is a mess, almost no room has a home run to the entry point in the basement). I was leery about the signal quality and speed using a wireless receiver, but I've had no problems with it whatsoever. My bedroom TV is standard def though, so if they try that with an HDTV, I can't vouch that it would work as well.

Much better than cable. Watch out on the installation, because they are still working out some kinks. They had problems with mine, and I have heard other complaints about failed installations that needed to be rescheduled.

Anybody switch from Cablevision to U-Verse? I'm getting a little sick of the monopoly Cablevision runs in lower Fairfield County... We get a crap load of Verizon FIOS commercials and, personally, I'd love to switch to that, but they don't offer service in Fairfield County... So, we basically get teased by that... But U-Verse is in our area down here... What I'd like to know if it's better than Cablevision before pursuing further...
