All:

The ballots are about to drop. For dues paying members of the Alumni Association in CT, you will probably get them tomorrow. If you are OOS, probably Monday or Tuesday.

First - I implore you to vote. I know that all of you care deeply about the school, and while the Alumni BOD doesn't directly impact some of the things we talk about here at the BY, I believe that we are all better served by having the best possible board to build a better Alumni base.

Second - and this isn't a shameless self-plug (or maybe it is), but I want to be involved and want to give back to the UCONN community and help out where I can.

Meet the candidates here:

http://uconnalumni.com/page/860

I have no doubt that all of the candidates are well qualified, but I am running with a subset of the 12 nominees (top 6 will make the board).

Richard Twilley
George Springer
Michael Nichols
Jim Oleksiw
Jon Pedersen (me)

I have spoken at length with all of the above, and we are all passionate Huskies that want to give back to the school and feel that we want to be part of the process. We are all excited about the future of UCONN, and hope that we have your support.

(PS - I've asked Fishy to moderate this forum so let's keep it civilized. Thanks.)

Not an alumni but I am a card carrying member of the Alumni Association. You have my vote. Figuratively of course. Unless they give me a vote and then I mean literally.

I'd endorse you, but it would probably cost you more votes than it gets you!;)

You're the only one who used the #BleedBlue hashtag in your statement, so you got my vote!

Well...it wasn't to be. Not as plugged into the "power structure" as I apparently needed to be. Guess I will continue to root for change as an outsider...thanks to all who supported me.

So you are AAC and not B1G? ;)

Keep plugging.

I was told that it is nearly impossible for an OOS candidate to get elected. I live in CT, but I rep NYC and have been on the BoD of the NYC Chapter for 3 years. Been working in NYC since 1995 so I'm not on the radar of the "Hartford/Storrs" infrastructure.

I'm curious as to how many total votes came in, and if possible without compromising privacy, etc....whatever info possible about the distribution of the votes.

I was told initially that they generally get about 500 votes from ~12,000 dues paying members. Paper ballots, apathy, etc. No idea what the count was this year. I was told there was some heavy campaigning. Will see if I get more data in the coming days. They haven't officially announced the results, but I was called to be informed that I didn't make it. They didn't tell me not to talk about it.

Looking forward to it.
