Let's put a sign on the NJ Turnpike and challenge RU

Better than us putting up efforts to challenge Maine, RI, UMass, Villanova, etc. That just smells small time.

I'd rather loose to a middling P-5 than a top of the line FCS school. (and there are plenty of those that can give UConn a stiff challenge and win)

RU, even as insecure as they may be, may accept a challenge from a former rival thinking it almost guarantees them a "W". Even if they demand a home game only, its a close enough travel.

Challenge BC to a yearly "Turkey Bowl"......they are close enough also.

UConn is not at the stature of a UCF that would entice a prominent P5 team to accept a challenge.

If UConn wants to be BIG TIME, W or L it has to start thinking that way.......beginning with middling P5 challenges.

At first I was kidding, but I think challenging local P5 opponents could generate fan excitement. Easy travel for all parties involved and just have some fun in the process of smack talking with other regional schools.

If I'm Bama, I flick this challenge off like a crumb on my shoulder. Screw 'em.

Hmmmm. Maybe they play this game and call it a civil conflict. I think a trophy already exists.

It'd be nice if one of the home and aways in "22 and "23 could be flip flopped.

It’s be even nicer if those games turned into conference games. That’s around the time GORs should be running out....

If I'm Bama I'd respect the fact that UCF won their AAC Division, their conference championship and went undefeated. Heck if MLB picked playoff teams on popularity maybe the StL Cardinals could have won this year's World Series.

It's always good to stand up for yourself.

New Englanders tend to live by the adage that "the nail that stands up gets hammered down."

But in my experience, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil."

More importantly, I think the most important question on any action is, what is the liability? The UCF billboards have no liability. They have upside and no downside. They raise the profile of UCF. They put UCF in the same conversation with Alabama. They reinforce the UCF national champion conversation. The downside is some people won't like them (mostly Alabamians, who cares?) and, perhaps, anger some people who would never agree with UCF in any case.

Meh. Its just a bit of harmless fun. Alabama's AD certainly isn't going to make any scheduling decisions on the basis of a couple of billboards. Schedules are often produced years in advance so this run may become a distant memory. Who the hell knows what kind of program UCF will be post Frost? Personally I hope they remain competitive, but it is equally as likely that they could backslide like they did post Bortles in 2014.
