Uber has helped out a lot of people I know that needed help.

I'll take that with a large grain of salt.
Each of the drivers I've spoken with (here and in Europe) seemed very pleased with the opportunity.
Still, their competitors and the folks who'd rather try to "help" them by corralling them in to some kind of Union, continue to bad mouth the entire concept.
I love the service (and in an earlier life might have driven for them).
As far as the management of the company I've encountered, they're like most of the silicon valley folks I've met: High Functioning Aspergers(sp) sufferers.

I used Uber a few times, found it confusing sometimes due to internet connections. I was charged for not picking up, was later reimbursed but that was a hassle I didn't want to deal with.
But, definitely better than stupid taxi drivers any day.
