>>Quinn’s record at UB was 20-36. His first three campaigns at UB were losing seasons – 2-10, 3-9 and 4-8.

Nevertheless, UB Athletics Director Danny White gave Quinn a five-year contract extension in January 2013. Quinn’s Bulls went 8-5 last season and reached Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the school’s second bowl berth since moving up to the top level of college football in 1999. This season so far has been a disappointment, with UB losing two games it was expected to win – at Army and at Eastern Michigan.<<

On the UB football coaching search: Rob Ambrose is definitely someone I'd target. Towson HC, former UConn OC. Really resurrected Towson.

Bit of a shocker. They whooped on us pretty good last year. Thought his offense looked good at times even against quality comp. Those first three years, he was lucky to get a fourth even with the improvement from year to year.

We owe him some gratitude ;)

Gut says something else in play... could be 100% wrong but agree it's a bit of a shocker.

It seems harsh based on last year and the fact that this year wasn't exactly a disaster.

I agree with medic - it feels like something else is going on.

The position at UConn is filled. Or are you interested in replacing one UB'er (with UM experience) with another?

Think. Then write your gibberish. But instead of posting, just erase it and move on.

Even if we know nothing else about (or can't generally understand) Chappy - we know this: he does not like executive search & placement firms.

This is horrible on so many levels.

All I see is an AD burnishing his credentials.

If you look at what White is doing at Buffalo, it's pretty clear that he is very ambitious. (I think he came up with the rebranding idea for Buffalo to be NY's team.) He is trying to upgrade Buffalo athletics by hiring better coaches, increasing fan interest, and he is aggressively raising money for capital projects.

Look what he did with basketball. He pushed out a modestly successful coach and brought in Bobby Hurley who went on to win the MAC East in his first year.

Football attendance has improved over the past 2 years to 22,736 and 21,756 (this year) from 13,242 during White's first year. He has raised money to improve the football facilities and the stadium. And, he set up a radio network that is now available throughout NY state.

Quinn's buyout is very modest at one year's pay and bonus even though he had a LT contract.

I don't know if there is more to the story here, but it looks to me like White wants to improve Buffalo athletics as fast as he can.

Emphasis on "as fast as he can." But fast won't last. 20k fans at the games is extremely generous. They have a good soccer coach, on the other hand.

Quinn, by the way, was the best coach they've had in 40 or 50 years.

Seriously?

We just watched Manuel make our hole into a chasm with inaction. Good for Buffalo.

Firing Quinn is the equivalent of firing Edsall. All downhill from here.

It's year 5 and they lost to Eastern Michigan and Army.

The only FBS team they beat was in the midst of a 21 game losing streak.

If they can't improve off Quinn they should shut down the program.

Maybe, maybe not. Clearly, the AD is aiming higher. What's the downside? They are a mediocre at best MAC team and the AD wants to be one of the best.

It's year 5 of the Quinn regime and all of the Turner Gill recruits are now gone. Gill recruited Texas and Florida more than Quinn has, so maybe the AD is looking at the roster and he's not happy about the outlook.

Buffalo lost by 1 to one of the best teams in the MAC, who only scored the go ahead TD in the last 3 minutes. It appears that Quinn was fired off one loss, and my gut is that Buffalo has a higher probability of Quinn's replacement being worse than being better.

Paul Pasqualoni winning pct at UConn: .357

Quinn at Buffalo: .368

I'm pretty sure that isn't one loss.

He did manage to lose to Army and Eastern Michigan this season.

If any fanbase should understand the benefit of firing someone sooner rather than later you'd think it would be the one that is #122 out of
128 in the computers partially because they waited too long.
