So, the Knickerbockers just parted with a first round pick in a loaded 2014 draft, another first rounder in 2016, and second round picks for the next three years. And who did they acquire? Andrea Bargnani, a seven footer who shot under 40% from the field last season (and under 44% for his career), doesn't play a lick of defense, and can't rebound. He's also scheduled to make over 10 million for the next two years even though the Knicks have already devoted over 50 million in annual salary to Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, and Tyson Chandler.

I'm not trying to be a - I have no problem with the Knicks as a franchise and their roster isn't unlikeable. I'm just trying to figure out why the hell the Knicks thought this would improve their roster for next season when they were significantly more efficient with Carmelo at power forward last season and now appear bent on juggling three frontcourt players in Carmelo, Amare, and Bargs who are notorious ball stoppers and poor defenders. Unless there is another move coming where the Knicks flip Amare for a guard and Bargs is basically the designated instant offense off the bench, is this move as baffling to you guys as it is to me?

Is Isaiah still on Jimmy Dolan's speed dial? Serious question.

The Celtics played thus right. In 3 years the two NYC teams will self destruct and possibly fail to land a pennant between them

Can't have Isaiah without Larry Brown in a 10 year guaranteed buy out.

Unless the deal changed the this deal was for the 2016 1st , 2 2nds, Novak and Camby.

The 2014 1st was dealt in the Melo deal.

I used to be a huge Knick fan, but the last decade plus has just killed any enthusiasm I ever had for the franchise. Even now that they are "good" I just can't stand them and I don't even care.

Just add this to the last of mind numbing moves they have made.

I can deal with losing, the Knicks have just lost me over the years.

Exactly.

I saw tonight that they have one pick in the drafts between 2012-2017. Awful.

Im used to it, its called being a life long knicks fan. I just never have any expectations, there is no sense in getting upset because it is the knicks and they will always be the knicks I used to get upset but not anymore I have accepted the fact that this franchise is and will always be a mess. I have just become highly entertained its like watching an entertaining, dysfunctional reality TV show.

As great as the 2014 draft is, if the knicks win the 45-50 games they are projected to they won't even sniff the lottery.

Is there a single Knicks fan that's happy about this?

I can't even begin to fathom the thought process on the NYK side that culminated in this trade.

That's because you are unable comprehend the genius that is James Dolan. He is the Enzo Patoni of the NBA, the Knicks are his masterpiece, and this is merely one tile. None of us will be able to fully appreciate his inspired art until it is finished, but the possibility of Elton Brand on the horizon does provide some clues. I mean, what more proof do you need than Brand's vote of confidence?:

Brand is attracted to the Knicks because of their winning culture and first-class organization

So they replaced Novak for a 7 footer that thinks he's Novak. Between the knicks and nets there will be enough luxury tax to rival a small country's gdp.

If you ever put James Dolan on the same pedestal as Enzo Patoni, you will never be allowed to post here again.

I realize you probably meant no harm, but you need to show a little more common sense.

You don't draw on a picture of Mother Terese and you don't compare James Dolan to Enzo Patoni.

Clear?

I don't know this Mother Terese of whom you speak, but you're right about Patoni. He knows no equal and none shall be placed with him.

I shall make my confession and seek my penance when next I make the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Storrs. I shall even offer to sacrifice Dolan at the altar.

Next on NYK's target list is Elton Brand, who can barely stay healthy and when he does he's a shell of his former self, and Nate Robinson.

They're looking at the 6-8th seed in the East next year.

This moves sheds Novak from the books in 2015 and sends a 40 year old player away. Not a sexy move but I can see why they would want to have as much cap space to resign Melo and add 1-2 max contracts in 2015.
