. . .about what they call in movies a cameo role. The term is used when some celeb makes a gratuitous appearance that usually has no bearing on the plot line.
The most notorious practitioner of this art (?) form was probably *Alfred Hitchc ock, who snuck on the screen in all of the movies he directed. In one ("Lifeboat," IIRC), he even did it by putting his photo on a newspaper that floated by the boat in the middle of the ocean.
[*I had to use the space bar rather than see him called Alfred Hitchrooster. Honest.]
I can think of a couple others. Elliot Gould played Elliot Gould in "Nashville." And Bo Diddley played a pawn broker in "Trading Places."
It seems to me that Candace Parker was a sort of cameo role player here on the BY (including her marriage and birth of her child) long after she left Tennessee. EDD endures as the most persistent player in this role (including her UD volleyball stint), and she was succeeded, at least temporarily, by Skylar Diggins.
So now, is DeShields destined to take on this role?
