OT: The AP on College Abbreviations

Branching off the discussion of acronyms in the Ionescu thread, I thought folks here would be interested in this.

That leads me to think of quite a few more... Until someone cares?, ....

I was disappointed that reference was made to OSU and others like it as acronyms. OSU, LSU, CIA, FBI, are all abbreviations, because they are just a series of letters representing the initial letter of something (e.g., school, government agency, etc,).

An acronym serves a similar function, but the series of letters spells a pronounceable word, like NATO, POTUS, UNICEF, or scuba and radar (no longer all caps).
