Is it just my imagination or does the roof just cave the duck* in on teams that leave the Big East for the ACC?

I don't like reveling in other people's misfortune because it tend to boomerang in a big, bad way - e.g. Syracuse fans enjoying our misfortune - but, oof, Syracuse has tip-toed through a minefield this year.

Bernie Fine, Mrs. Fine, Fab Kerfuffle I, the drive-by Yahoo'ing, and now Fab Kerfuffle II.

All that's left is the tourney flame out .

I absolutely will not gloat over any of the above, but I will allow myself to chuckle for ten seconds and not a second more if Melo's issue is a failed drug test.

I am also not going to speculate on why the news came out today and not two days ago and I am certainly not going to wonder if there might have been some intent to bury this just long enough to allow the seeding to finish.

Cuse is using the model perfected by Auburn two years ago in football. Deny, deny, deny. Use known ineligible players and then hope sanctions don't wipe out a great season.

I don't know what is a better metaphor, the ostrich with it's head in the sand, Sgt Shultz' "I see nothing", or the piano player on the Titanic.

The timing is certainly suspect. The NCAA is looking like a bigger clusterf*** than usual this year.

Let's face it: college athletics is a cesspool and everyone has some on their shoes.

I don't think SU hid this so it wouldn't impact their seeding. They had 2 losses on the year. Even if this came out before Sunday they would have been a 1 seed. It's not like Melo was their best player...

Didn't Cincy lose a #1 seed when Kenyon Martin broke his leg? I think they only had 2 losses going into the NCAAT

But Martin was their best player. Melo is not.

Still, they would have likely been bumped in the S-curve at least below UNC.

He's not their best player, but he's a major factor in their zone. Takes up a lot of space and makes everything very cramped in there... I personally was not a believer in this Cuse team going all the way, mostly because they depend so much on turnovers leading to transition baskets (the type of baskets that are minimized in the tourney when you play good, smart teams)... But not having Melo means their defense will be less effective and their chances even slimmer

I hope that Fab Melo hurts Syracuse's APR to the point where they're not eligible for next year's tournament. That would be sweet, sweet justice.

Look what happened to a guy who left the ACC - Haith. Ended up with a team full of players and didn't it up. Yet.

I think Cincy still got a 2 seed. Probably too high sans Martin.
