20. Not sure it's what you seek, but, I believe Winnooski, VT, qualifies.

17. As told to me by my WW2 veteran bomber pilot father, it goes like this: an Air Corps flyer would remark "when this whole thing is over, I'm going home, buy a farm, and forget the whole damn thing." If he failed to return from a mission, his fellow pilots would simply muse 'well, I guess he bought the farm."

Better - but not by much.

14. The Tyger by William Blake. Tyger Tyger, burning bright, in the forests of the night. What immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry?

21. Paul Newman as a judge in The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean

I'm with SVC. Brutal stuff, chief.

17. I agree with Pinotbear, I'm pretty sure I read that in one of my WW2 AAF books (my father was a ground mechanic).
23, Wild guess - Kyrie and Christ and its variations are from the Greek in a Latin service.

17..Yes Pinot, the phrase has to do with death and entered into general use to mean often that someone was murdered or died in an accident.
An alternate source claims that if an airman crashed on a farm, the farmer would sue and wind up with enough money that, in effect, the airman bought the farm.

#23. Kyrie eleison was a phrase said in the Roman Catholic mass, and maybe Anglican too. When I was an altar boy, we said all of responses to the priest in Latin, but that phrase was in Greek. At least according to the Sisters of St Joseph who drilled us daily in our holy duties! It means Lord, have mercy.

22..Now VAUC does not mention this part. The beasts were filling up on their way to Seattle, cause they heard that their leader, the G.O.A.T, was stationed there.

Oh my, for shame! I did not even have have the slightest notion of what is Christi Eleison. I too was an altar boy from grade school through junior year high school. We responded in latin as well. Some phases I still use such as mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa when requesting forgiveness. Hmmm I guess a few more little grey cells have perished and along with them Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison.

23..Not too wild a guess apparently, Knights. See Bama for his detail.
Now, SVC, if it's any consolation, I relate the following: My childhood classmate (and still a friend) recently was recalling stuff about St. Mary's Elementary School. After a whole year with Sister Grace in 8th Grade, he remembered that Sr. Francis was our teacher. No, Dan, she was the principal.
Sadly, SVC, I can offer no consolation over your performance in#563.

25..Good to meet you, Vol. You are alone here. One small correction is that the rhino is a Himalayan foothills beast. Bangladesh
is too far south for his liking. The 4th is Pakistan.

14..Rocket & Game complete the line and provide the author.
This is also SVC's finest hour, as we'll have little more to say today about the poor fellow.

15..Ine & VAUC know the residence; others try to sneak by with unasked for stuff.

16..The VAUC Quintet note Liberia.

18..last in a 3 legged race. Or maybe it was the laying of the trans Atlantic cable. You decide.

19..Drive provides a correction; I left out Jack Benny's valet.

20..Ed4 has the windy city. I understand what Big's doing, but I hope Pinot explains his reply.

21..SVC, Cajun & VAUC (This is SVC's swan song this test).

24..Ine frets that it may only be infatuation.
On the other hand, VAUC only realizes it was love, after she threw him out.

Congrats to those posters who took up the slack, when SVC & Knights had brain freeze. Less ice cream guys.

And by the way, SVC, how do you respond to, "Ad eum qui laetificat"?
