20..Some further notes...often "ego" is used as synonym.  Freud posited that the ego is the rational part of humans,
keeping the id and superego in check.  A strong ego implies self satisfaction and pride in one's being.  In common parlance
too much ego makes one prideful, lacking in openness and transparency.  Not a compliment.
I do wonder about SVC's example of parental pride, for it sounds like a reflection of personal experience, though not necessarily his.
