Reverend Mother is just a title like "your eminence" or "your reverence". And her "name" certainly wasn't "Mother Abess", her position was "Mother Abbess", which, in the end, is exactly what a Mother Superior is. "Just to be technical".

PS - I am just being funny, in a way, not really critical.

Who cares? The point is, that Reverend Mother is what everyone called her in the film. I guess I was being technical. Lol. Knowing how technical Alex Trebek and the judges are on Jeopardy, "Mother Superior" might have been wrong while "the Reverend Mother" or "Mother Abbess" would have been accepted.
