19. Charles Dickens
21. Football players sued NCAA for right to unionize. Right granted -- union vote not yet public.
24. Edie Brickell's "What I Am"
25. I'm embarrassed to say I recognize the lyrics from "Lost in Love" by the uber-syrupy Air Supply.

23. Sounds like The Breakup Song by the Greg Kihn Band (ties in with Q14) even though it doesn't fit the format given.

14. Jeopardy. Today's contestants.....
15. IIRC from Sunday School.... not take root and get eaten by the birds. take root and get strangled by the weeds. take root but die, no water, soil, too hot.
21. Cause their football players are idiots and want to unionize.
24. Paul Simon? I think he had some hit. ummm, You Can Call Me Al??

16..The ____wolds

20..Benjamin Cardozo had more fame.

23..Think Walter Lantz.

22..AC/DC accused her of being a "Soul ________".

.-.
14.. There is no truth to the rumor that Pinto & Meyers used crib sheets for Jeopardy.

15..See Meyers, though he could have mentioned rocks & thorns. They are good for keeping a soul down.

16..Cotswolds

17..Pinot & VAUC give us Saudi Arabia.

18..Penny Lane--the high-pitched VAUC gets credit.

19..The Sketches appeared in periodicals, later combined. K9 knows Boz was Dickens.

20..Fields was a highly regarded 19thC Supreme. McReynolds was a lowly regarded one in the 20th.

21..Meyers unburdens his emotions(he can't help it, but he's working with a good psychotherapist).
K9 & VAUC report temperately.

22..Soul Stripper

23..Pinto & VAUC post-hint with Woody Woodpecker.

24..K9 read the article & offers "What I Am", by Ms. Paul Simon.

25..What requires K9 to learn these songs will puzzle me 'til my last breath. (And you forgot Lobo.)

Just wonderful participation (and lurking) this time around.

Not really a good one.

22..Soul Stripper
Had not heard that one. A little old for me. I didn't pick up AC/DC until Johnson. Missed some of Bon Scott's deeper track stuff.

Yeah. Air Supply, the Hollies and REO Speedwagon -- sad, sad chapters in music history.
You can't put earlier REO in with Air Supply. That's just wrong.

Was not familiar with early REO. I would have never guessed the tune you posted was REO. Very different. Still don't like it, but definitely not syrupy.

I don't mind Lobo at all. Always liked a dog named Boo.

Prior to hmmm 1980, REO had a more rockish sound. (Ridin' the Storm Out, Roll With the Changes) Then yea, I'll agree they became more popish (syrupy) Or actually kinda anthem rock. (Keep On Loving You, I Can't Fight This Feeling)

Air Supply always sucked though.

OK, so Lobo is acceptable, but how 'bout BREAD, huh?

I love, LOVE Bread. Strangely enough, their biggest hit -- "If" -- is their one song that I can't stand.

Now you got Baby I'm A Want You going through my head :)
