16 - he isn't lost to me. Richard Henry Lee at the 2nd Continental Congress, on July 2nd, IIRC. I'm out of town on vacation with limited internet. The only answer I knew in the whole quiz, incidentally.

Not to carp, but FWIW - Tom Paine was British, Nathan Hale from Connecticut and John Hancock from Massachusetts.

14..It's possible VAUC is giving the French pronunciation; all others just type "balloon".

15..Vendors ran out of cups, and even a century ago, they realized that folks did not want a scoop of ice cream in their hands, and so the cone was born. Credit to VAUC alone.

16..Knights arrives late to the party but provides what you could not. He chides (but refuses to carp) posters for their geographical befuddlement. Takes a Rutgers man.

17..It's been decades since PBS gave us those enchanting interviews, but rbny remembers
Joseph Campbell.

18..As long after 1776 as 1870. The nuns didn't teach you that?

19..Russian gas/oil giant. Give the award to geordi, who, despite rumors,
has licked his own problems with gas.

20..They say Ruby you're like a dream, not always what you seem. Hmm,
I wonder if it was inspired by the 40's "Laura".
Oh, almost forgot, VAUC & rbny here.

21..Raise the flags for K9, who not only speaks Italian, but also semaphore.

22..The Hyatt heiress; rob gets the Commerce part.

23..The blindfolded geordi & K9 close their eyes and stick a pin in the Tanzania part of Africa.

24..TXs reads hint, comes up with Sri Lanka.

25..INFERNO is on the best seller list, and K9 will get to it just as soon as she's finished the series of a certain Venetian Commassario.

Two & 1/2 wrong...a most respectable 90%
