Large Pool Of Molten Rock Was Just Found Rising Beneath New England

The process appears similar to the phenomenon seen under Yellowstone National Park, a hot spot where magma is continually pushed from the mantle through the crust and periodically onto the surface in massive eruptions. It is unlikely to affect the UConn basketball schedule in the next 50 million years.

The best part is that they only notice it due to a slight budging at the surface. As you see from the picture below if is barely noticeable to the the untrained eye.

Actually, the geologists have known about a 'hot spot' not unlike Hawaii / Yellowstone/ etc for year, under the Adirondacks / N NE for quite some time. Wonder why it's all the rage now?
