Charlie Strong was the only hire that made sense at Texas. For one thing, he was a guy who was qualified, having turned things around at Louisville post-Kragthorpe. For another thing, it makes sense to rival Kevin Sumlin as another cool Black coach for the state of Texas. Finally, he was actually going to come. Nick Saban has a Lamborghini. If the HC job at Texas is a Ferrari, Saban's not trading one for the other. Meanwhile, Strong had a Cadillac CTS as HC of Louisville. Nice enough vehicle, but he'd clearly jump at the opportunity for a Ferrari.

As for the changes being made now, I'll simply give him a chance to win. If he does, good on him.

I am very excited about Strong at Texas. I've known a few UT football players, and they can be...entitled, to say the least. The on-campus housing requirement is really intriguing. I think it will definitely help win over parents during recruiting (although I don't think Texas loses many recruiting battles.)
