It was done as a joke but it's a real live cryptocurrency. Bitcoin for example is so hard to mine that the last bitcoin will not be mined for another 20 years. Plus of course you can actually spend bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies scare the bejeezus out of me and I just jumped in yesterday to make a little money but it's so volatile I had trouble sleeping and I only had $1,500 dollars of it. I bought it averaged at $.03 and got out at $.05 this morning. I have bought and sold stocks and been somewhat actively involved with whoever handles my portfolio but playing with that crypto scared me and I bailed.
