Another thread brought this idea to me. ESPN has its insider, Newspapers have subscription services, hell even other fan boards have premium sections. Now for one im against the idea and if it came about id stick to the free version. However since a lot of people are ok with supporting premium content why not offer it up here on this board. Maybe with enough revenue the board could have more development or less advertisements and a greater chance at stability.

This is a serious thread, please keep it civilized. Ive kept votes anonymous so feel no hesitation in your vote.

No. That's what makes us better than all those other boards. We're not mean enough to charge.
Yea i noticed the drop down menu for opponents boards last night and clicked on providence and noticed they had a paid member section where roughly 1/4 of the posts were located. If i was a pc fan id feel left out unless i added another charge to the cc.

temry(sp?) runs a great board, i wouldn't blame him for wanting to charge. however, of course no one wants to pay to write on a message board. i can't believe there are people who do, but if we had to i wouldn't.

Alright, I'll disagree. I miss the premium section of the old board. It wasn't as active but it weeded out some of the garbage.

Yep. We occasionally got some scoop there as well. Mostly, it was nice because when the board got overrun with idiots there was a place to go. I also liked game chats, there was some great banter in chat.

I don't like the idea of splitting up discussion on the same topics into two different areas. I can see the appeal of having a section for people to post/read about information from sources close to the program, but don't see myself paying for that as I don't follow recruiting as much as many here seem to.

I dropped the chat because it was too expensive, and wasn't used.

If there is interest, I'll bring the chat back.

There will never be premium content here. History has proven it isn't needed, and won't pay the bills.
Well that there is the vote that counts. Although the premium board did filter out the riff raff, more times than not you'd hear bird chirping. Sometimes there was some insider type content, but that was rare. If you want a more private conversation just do a PM with a few folks.

I guess I'm not afraid to admit it but I do like FREE.

A "private" board for a group can easily be set up if the need arises. The idea of a veterans' board has also been tossed around. I too miss the sense of community that we had ten to 15 years ago. The problem is many of the old timers have died or moved on.

A running PM with a small group of friends also gets the job done.

My bottom line: What we have, works ... Warts and all.

I would definitely like to see the chat room be available during the season. It was used for nearly every game last year (as I recall) and the preceding years as well.

Done. It'll be added in the next week or two. Consider yourself the new chat moderator :)

Give me vast powers, like the ability to shut up HFD (or the like) when he gets psychotic.

I have to have the chat room - it's my only link to people who talk UConn bball.

So there it is im not alone in my thinking ...free is better...simple as that ...thank you boneyard for offering this service.

Its why i stay away from espn...their "premium" content isnt written by a genius or the font doesnt magically make me aroused.

Chat was useful for football games. That's about it.
