We are all going to have to be patient with this group, ESPECIALLY me. We have four months to get this thing right.

And if you want me to let you in on a little secret, we’re not right yet. Let’s enjoy the ride.

Guess he still has last year on his mind
He didn't temper expectations earlier. In fact he pushed them. I guess he realized he overstated things. Connecticut fans would eat him alive for saying one thing and then retracting. I am curious to see what happens with Kentucky fans.

More excuses...cry me a river

"The issue becomes playing teams this early is not fair for my team," Calipari said. "It may be fair for everybody else, but it's not fair for my team. And our program is not traditional, so we'll have four or five kids come back, but five or six will leave. So this is not traditional.

"It is a program, and they're connected. It's just not traditional in a sense that everybody stays four years. So it's not fair when we walk in and everybody's more experienced than us, and it's your first, second or third game out of the gate. We're at a big disadvantage."

Guys, back off. It's not fair that he should be responsible for how he chooses to run his program, and it's not fair that he gets paid a lot of money. and it's not fair how the NCAA picks a different, random date to start the season each year.

It is ironic that two weeks ago, he was suggested that this team may go undefeated. they clearly have an impressive amount of talent on paper, I think (and hope!) that underperformance is probable given the lack of experience in the back court. The twins are both 6'6" 215. From highlight tapes, against high school competition, Andrew looks like James Harden...not sure that that comparison reflects the ideal floor leader to lead a true team.

Very interesting quotes. He said something to a similar effect last year when everyone was talking repeat, but in 2012 he did nothing but feed into the hype.

i don't know, i'd like james harden lead my team

He's going to have to say that every year with the way he's structured his one and done program.

Izzo with the great response:

Izzo on John Calipari's "no fair" comment: "I agree, I think he should forfeit. If Johnny doesn't want to play it, I'll take a win."
