Made me think of tomorrow's game
If Serena can lose…and it's because Ana is playing out of her mind.
Could Rutgers challenge tomorrow?

Some day you will be right in worrying about an upset.

Won't that be glorious? Rapture for you.

Serena is ONE woman, UConn is a TEAM... a lot of things would need to happen for that to become a reality but its not suprising coming from you

I disagree with Chris Evert who is critical of Serena, Ana was awesome

I've been right lots before.

And I certainly don't expect a loss.
But anything's possible as we saw tonight

John A also wrote something about that today.

Good. Let me know when she ever credits an opponent for playing well.

Oh well....... I will keep up with Stephens until she loses..... not sure if there are any other americans left.

Sloane's the last. Sadly, the loss will probably be tomorrow; I think Sloane beating Azarenka actually would be like Rutgers beating UConn this year.

some people hear what they want to hear and how they hear it

Sorry daddy, she spoke over and over again in the presser of all the winners Ana was hitting and that she played really well.

Last thought on this:

Serena looked a bit unfit, physically uncomfortable, a little old perhaps?

Ana was in the best shape of her life, she always was a superb ball striker.
Today, she took Serena's serve from inside the baseline and walloped it back.

On a good day for Serena, it would have been a good match with Serena winning.
It wasn't a good day.

The Times rationalized Serena's presser …but she did repeatedly credit Ana.

I watched a few games and noticed that Serena's serve was lacking its usual pace. She seemed to be spinning more of her first serves and only occasionally going for a big one. This was confirmed by simply watching the speed meter in the corner of the court. While still hard by many players' standards, her numbers were noticeably slower than what I have grown used to seeing. Often times when Serena really uncorks one, she will reach nearly 200 km/H. Once in a while I have seen her get to 200 or 201. Regardless, her first serve will often be in the 190s unless she's going out wide in the deuce court. Today I was seeing 160s. At this level, it's a big difference.

Just now, I read on ESPN that she has been dealing with a back problem.

Ivonovic looked to be playing well from the part of the match I saw. Kudos to her. Serena's serve was also not up to its usual devastating standard.

She might have been doing that because of her back. Or she knew she had to get her 1st serve in because Ivanovic was smacking Williams' 2nd serves for winners.
