The best thing about the Cup this year is that we get our afternoon free to do as we like.

Ass kicking display buy the European team. Another WTF showing by USA.

USA should be embarrassed in so many ways. Tom Watson's WTF picks and choices right to the raisin sacks of some of our players. Someone has to step up and turn this BS around. Can't stand the looks on the likes of Garcia and McIlroy.........

Phil Mickelson is the ultimate spoiled no-class crybaby...threw Watson under the bus faster than he illegally trades stocks on insider info.

Of course Watson made some head scratchers, 2 of his biggest mistakes both involved Phil....playing Phil on Friday afternoon after Phil lobbied him & not playing Phil on Saturday morning. I assume Tom lost faith in Phil's words when Phil was sucking on fumes on Friday afternoon.

Watson didn't cost the US the Ryder Cup....the 12 guys hitting the balls showed once again they have no balls...with very few exceptions.

Watson was a terrible coach, maybe he didn't solely cost the cup, but was a disaster of a captain.

Let's make Freddy C the permanent captain for as long as he wants the job.

Agreed Watson was a disaster as team captain playing the older guys too long and not going with the young hot players when he had the chance. Still curious as
To the web Simpson selection...Kirk who was it at the time seemed to make
More logically sense but then again Watson did not follow logic this weekend.

I think Freddy C would make a good captain. Hopefully he would bring a win back to the USA.

Kirk had more important things to do... a college football weekend beckoned. I had zero problem leaving him home.

it was a disaster. as far as the roster I'm not sure we could have done any better....maybe sub simpson out with snedeker, but we needed guys who had some sort of experience. rickie fowler had such a great year, but couldn't pull a W out? got his ass kicked by rory in the singles matches too...bubba got his ass handed to him on all fronts. you HAVE to hand it to the Europeans though- those guys are Ryder Cup made. intense. all of them. from mcdowell to poulter those guys had fire. doesn't hurt to have the best player in the world on your team either in Rory.

next time we'll have Tiger. and hopefully an even better Ricky and Keegan. all will be good.

Tiger won't help.

I like Tiger but he didn't have a good record even when he was Tiger. But having him stare down Rory and Sergio would've been a bit more fun......he may never be Tiger again but it would be nice if he was or there were a few like him soon.

I am not a Phil fan all that much but I'm kind of glad he spoke out. Tom is an old stubborn guy......he actually should have asked Tiger to come , if he was smart.

Tiger didn't need to play but he should have come. He still has a presence on the course which in our case wouldn't have hurt. Phil was picking up opponent's balls from the cup, congratulating them after a good putt, etc.. I saw him being soft out there, no killer instinct on display. Reed and Speith were sensational as rookies.

Should have been Horschel over Simpson and Kirk. Guy was playing out of his mind down the stretch.

I believe they had to pick the Captains selections before Horschel won the last 2 events. Still his captains picks looked bad when he made them and they turned out to be bad.

Watson seemed to lack any idea how to get his players into the process. He just acted like a dictator. He should be making the decisions but it seems from all the comments, he didn't even get players input. It also seems he didn't give the players any advance notice as to who they'd be playing with or which formats they'd be playing. I sometimes find our captains have stuck to their plan too much and benched hot players or teams. Watson is definitely guilty of that. Benching Mickelson for the entirety of Saturday's matches is simply indefensible.

Those who are calling out Mickelson for this are out in left field to me. He obviously puts his heart and soul into this,he's a leader on the team. My guess is the rest of the team is pretty happy he did it. I would also guess they discussed it beforehand. Watson botched this in about every way possible, and he did it an arrogant and vindictive way. Mickelson has every right to call him out on it. The fact that he did it with Watson sitting right there took some large stones. He didn't leak it anonymously, he said it right in front of him.

He didn't want it.

they've been saying for years that the Euros are just mentally tougher. They certainly showed it last time, and showed it again on Saturday and yesterday when they kept winning on the back side. At one point they had won something like 15 out of 18 holes played on the back...I'm not completely sure what contributes to that, but those guys do not back down even when they look to be in trouble. I think you need a couple of things to succeed at this format. You need some guys who have technical skills but you also need some guys with the kind of bulldog mentality that the US team has seemed to lack.

He didn't want it.

It was Kirk that wanted to go to a football game as mentioned above. Horschel was the right guy even prior to the run he made. His fighters mentality is much like Reed and Speith and would have offset some of those focused euro's unlike Simpson who doesn't have fire. And he makes a ton of birdies.

Tom is an all time great but he has his way and I'm guessing it;s the only way. Ray Floyd was his assistant and Ray is also one of those old arrogant self righteous ex-PGA guys. Wasn't a good team of coaches for this trip to Scotland at all.....PGA's fault!

Thought Watson was a dtard long before I ever read this. He was the worst captain in last 20+ years or more. He'll never be anywhere around US golf anytime soon.

Watson's an arrogant old pr**k you can tell. Not the kind of captain required in this day and age!! He was a great player but he's not at all impressed easily with other players in this day and age.

Having Tiger does what for our side?

Tiger has a very good singles record. We got destroyed in the Foursomes anyway, so it's not like his poor team record is a step down from this team's performance.

Tiger had a good record. I think he maybe toast at this point.

Oh. All those golfers look alike to me.

I know he's changed his look, but really?

I personally liked Phil showing a little backbone and laying it down. The US team needs more of that if it's going to get its act together, because right now, Euros >>>>> US.

Tiger lost this season to a back injury, but he had very good seasons the previous 2 years (even if they weren't "Tiger good" because they lacked majors). He was still the best golfer in those 2 years.

He's not 40 yet, I'm not that worried about him.
