Used to love watching broadcasts in the 70's with Collins and Donald Dell.

He was a very good man, and a pioneer. Only PBS would carry tennis in those days and he was the voice of the sport. I saw him in Newport RI a couple of years ago, perhaps before he got ill. He was real royalty!

This makes me very nostalgic and sad. Bud was one of a kind.

Bud was a tennis treasure and was for a long time. With Mary Carillo, Chrissy Evert, and Jonny Mac, I think they have a better case for "voice of tennis" based on the number of recent broadcasts at the championship level. Heart and/or soul of tennis? That could well be Bud, especially on the women's side. Rest in peace.
