Yes, it's weird that those songs are 20. What's weirder for me is that I put a local classic rock station on during my commute to catch local traffic that's outside of the WTIC halo of caring about it, and it plays songs that were dated when I was in high school. Which is now over 30 years ago. Nothing is lamer than some DJ playing "Shanty" as a 5 o'clock party song on Friday afternoons.

I think it's more of an indictment of contemporary songwriting.

Kids these days, with their twitter, and music blogs and spotify and amazon... Back in my day, if you wanted to find out about new music, you had to read about it in SPIN, get in your car, drive to Strawberry's, and buy a CD. Or if your buddy had it you could copy it on a tape - none of this bittorrent stuff. We had a lousy quality copy where you couldn't skip tracks that jammed up your car cassette deck when it got too hot and by golly we were thankful for that!

CDs? CDs? Meh, they are a fad. Back in my day music was a guy banging two rocks together. When he stopped everyone applauded...because if you didn't he hit you with the rocks. See now that was interactive. So much better then the kids today and their bang boxes....

Saw Blind Melon (I want to say at Toad's, but it was long ago) before "No Rain" hit. Knew immediately it would be huge.

I'm 25 and have memories associated with all these songs, especially in the summer driving to camp listening to 104 in my brother's car. The simple times, man!!!

I think the original Radio 104 went on the air my freshman year at UConn. It was great at first, mix of 90s and 80s alternative (now we call it indie) but the next summer ('95) it was lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of Alanis Morrissette.

Ironic. Don't you think?

104 was an inferior ripoff to what those on the south shore were able to get, WDRE, the best station ever. They just added more limp Biscuit and other crappy things.

And I drink Metamucil, what of it? Great way to lose some weight and get more fiber in your diet without doing horrible things like eating whole wheat pasta and what not.
