OT: Quiet Derby Year

Seems there is little run up to the Derby this year. No potential Triple Crown winner?

It's quiet for a couple of reasons.

First, it's horse racing. The sport is dead.

Second, it's being overshadowed by the fight, the NFL Draft, and the NHL & NBA playoffs.

When there are only two people, one of which is past his prime, that anyone cares to see fight, the sport is dead.

Horse-racing is also dead as a sport. It continues on as a zombie a three entertainment events per year.

There are a bunch of great horses this year. But once racing was dropped by ESPN it's exposure has dwindled. Kind of like the Big East in hoop.

American Pharaoh could be a super horse, he has to show he has the toughness to beat a big field. My longshot special is Upstart. He's been forgotten on the toteboard despite being race tough and having good speed numbers. 33-1 the last time I checked.
