Suspended WVU lineman charged with armed robbery

Korey Harris‘ time in Morgantown has gone from bad to worse to, reportedly, over thanks to a rather serious incident yesterday. According to WV Metro News, the West Virginia defensive lineman was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree armed robbery. While head coach Dana Holgorsen has yet to comment on the player’s status, the television station noted that Harris’ name has been removed from the football program’s online roster.

Additionally, a school spokesperson stated that “[w]e have no comment on individuals who aren’t with the West Virginia football program.”

The incident that apparently led to Harris’ dismissal occurred July 12, with the details as follows:

…police said Harris and two others entered a Sturgis Street home and held two residents at gunpoint.

A relative said one of the victims recognized Harris, who was wearing his WVU-issued sweatpants with the No. 96 on them. That victim reportedly told police all three intruders were armed.

To repeat, Harris was allegedly part of an armed robbery while wearing his WVU-issued sweatpants with the No. 96 on them.

Harris was already suspended from the program in April for violating unspecified team rules.

In 2012, Harris appeared in 11 games as a freshman.

Nothing would be more heartbreaking for me than being robbed at gunpoint by a UCONN player in full uniform. It might take a while if they wore a mask over the new helmet but as soon as I see a uniform #, I would be able to decipher who it is. If a UCONN player robs me, I hope they do so wearing BCU, RU, or Fruit t-shirts to throw me off their scent AND further fuel my hatred for those schools.

Was told that cops responded to an unrelated incident at a club. Morrison barked at a police dogs which caused them to start barking...

If WVU had an ounce of self respect as an institution they would sit Holgorsen down and investigate this from top to bottom.

I am pretty tolerant of kids screwing up and drinking, fighting, etc. This kid terrorized a family at gun point! That's a little more than a lack of maturity....no?

I'll add:

Ohio State and Urban Meyer are supposedly kicking their starting RB off the team for punching the daughter of a Columbus police officer. We'll see if he actually gets kicked off, or just faces a few game suspension with some BS response by Meyer about how the event was blown out of proportion and his player was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
