Ed O'Bannon and several other former players filed a major lawsuit vs. the NCAA a couple years ago, the basis of which was that they (and many others) got no reimbursement by the NCAA for use of their names (e.g., on jerseys) or likenesses (e.g., video games), while the NCAA and member schools raked in millions.
Now, the players have said they want the lawsuit to proceed but they (named in the lawsuit) don't want any money (recognizing the nightmare of divvying up any damages awarded). The NCAA doesn't like this at all.
The end (at least of the lawsuit) is in sight. Stay tuned.
