Larry Drew on vacation and Kidd backdoors him. Drew basically told to not stay as long as he wants. Drew fired, Kidd hired along with player trades. Hollins taking the Nets helm. Nets upgraded but Kidd is a backstabbing sleaze. Sure Drew didn't do well coaching but for Kidd to have no issue putting a peer out of work is sick. I understand he wanted more money after one year (think Fisher and Kerr) and Nets said Fark You.

I say this because I am so glad Ollie doesn't have to deal with that sh|t. I'm sure he knows what happened and he just has to be even more glad about his decision. Ain't nothing like job security, especially when you have a great job.

Does the rule that one must never interview for a position already held by someone else and a person who does so is a backstabbing sleaze apply to all fields of endeavor, or just coaching basketball? Asking for a friend.

Actually its not a rule. I'm applying this to Kidd because he had an NBA coaching gig but complained and the Nets didn't entertain his complaint. He's a one year rookie coach with no resume. He got envious and instead of continuing coaching the Nets he went after someone's else's livelihood.

According to the media Coaches don't normally do that unless there is an opening, or a current coach is under fire for various reasons. Drew probably sucked (I don't follow the NBA) but still Kidd 'pushed him out'. No honor in that, hence the sleaze.

To your point if a coach is not coaching in the NBA and wants to apply for an existing job, I think that's more than fair. If a coach is wooed by a team and accepts, that's also good (team initiated). In fact that's business. Kidd did seemingly did neither.

Oh and Drew only was there for only one year.

It wasn't Larry Drew's fault that the Bucks sucked. The Bucks were ravaged by injures (absolutely ravaged). But in any case, sleazy move by Jason Kidd. Can't respect a guy like that to ask for a promotion after 1 year then stealing someone else's job.

Yeah this kinda thing isn't done in the coaching fraternity. And Bucks management is just as sleazy for agreeing to a deal with Kidd before Drew even knew he was fired. Just slimy all the way around. Kidd has definitely made some enemies with this move.
