does anyone actually think they are going to be relevant after this year? They have a perfect storm of size and experience this year with like 5-6 seniors. Their only player coming back next year (if he doesn't decide to declare early) is the sophomore Larkin.

I just find it comical to hear reporters and writers claiming they are forming a powerhouse down there after playing well for one season in an extremely down year for the ACC. The only halfway decent team is dook with NC state, UNC and UVA being bubble teams at best...No denying Miami is playing really well this year but I just don't buy it that they continue that way beyond this season

This after they dropped a whopping 45 points on a terrible Clemson team.

And anything they win this year will soon be wiped from the record books anyway.

Weird how they hired a good coach and have a good team. Yeah no way they are good in the future.

...the charging call on Clemson at the end of tonight's game was a joke. Should have been blocking. It wasn't even close. Even the commentators were freaking out over how bad the call was. Nice gift.

And you've lost total sight of the bubble. If today was selection Sunday, Virginia, Carolina and State are all safely in the tournament.

They will definitely fall back after this year. The only question is will Larranaga be able to lure enough good players there for them to be good on a year in and year out basis. There is really no reason for them not to be able to field a pretty good team every few years, if they have a capable coach running things.

So I guess we're assuming the NCAA botchup totally absolves them.

I'm sure a lot of folks out there are asking that about us, as well.
Perhaps we should just let Miami have their earned fun without comment as to their future, and, instead, worry about ours, as we are somewhat adrift in a storm at the present.

They've got five seniors and a junior in their top seven - the bottom falls out next year.

They're reaping the benefits of their ill-gotten gains this season.

Won't last for them - it never does.

This is a team that needed a late run to beat BC by 1. Yet, they are 12-0 in a alleged major conference.

Miami has hit a perfect storm...

They've benefited from being pretty good, just talented enough, and just a little bit lucky. Combine that with an anemic ACC (it's almost comical) and that's how you get 12-0.

I guess you haven't heard but there's sorta some big NCAA sanctions looming. Payment to players usually doesn't go over too well.

I'm waiting for the evidence that hasn't been manufactured by a con man and the NCAA. To date you have a handful of players that received minimal punishments and nothing else has come out. When all the untainted facts are presented, and appropriate punishment has been levied, I'll be the first to say that they got what they deserved. At this point I just feel that if everything this guy alleged was true, we would have seen something happen. I mean, if everything that was in the Yahoo story (the same one that the Miami Herald wouldn't buy) is true, then this should have been a slam dunk case right? Why would the NCAA need to manufacture their case at all?

At what point are people ready to be open to the idea that you may just have an angry guy that conned people out of money for a living, conned players in an effort to have leverage on them if they made it to the NFL, conned Charles Robinson into printing it all and finally conned the NCAA into paying his attorney and basically subsidizing his legal defense because he is broke?

There is no doubt that some stuff has gone on just based on the minimal stuff that came out right away, but nothing else has even been hinted at in the last two years, certainly nothing that is going to "shut them down" as some ridiculous people were calling for.

I agree, however, I think it's a bit more pertinent in Miami's case since this is their second noteworthy year...ever. Even if we are having questions at the moment it takes some time for the light of 3 NC's in 12 years to fade away

Miami as a victim.

Classic.

duck*ing insane, but classic.

Perhaps you had some evidence that should have been brought to light in this case? It amazes me that people are just willing to run with everything that a proven con man has had to say before getting a chance to actually see what the evidence really is. Good lord, I'm finally beginning to understand how guys like this get people to hand over ridiculous sums of money for their crooked pnzi schemes.

I was more annoyed that Miami was paying hoop recruits. That they were also being cute with football recruits is no surprise.

You kinda look like a sap carrying Miami's water when they keep banning themselves from bowl games. Why would they do that? I wonder.

They seem think they did something wrong - maybe it's time you came to grips with it. You seem like a decent sort, although I question the sanity of a dual Miami/UConn fan.

I would question your own sanity if you are going to blindly believe everything put into print based on the words of Shapiro. Of course they had to self impose bowl bans, it's the same thing every university does when a player's eligibility comes into question-they suspend first and worry about guilt or innocence later. The NCAA has always had free reign to punish programs and athletes so you try to head that off.

I think perhaps that you also lack the ability to read, or at least to comprehend what I have written. I am more than willing to accept that stuff has gone on, in fact I have acknowledged it. I just want to see solid proof other than the words of a guy that lied to people for a living before I shut something down. Is it not reasonable to have doubts about the story of such a person?

They should win close to 28-30 games this year. That's big for recruiting but like everyone else has mentioned, they'll regress next year.

I think a big 10 team will finally win it all this year. I'm not sold on this Miami team....that Clemson game today was suspect and a couple other of their wins have been

The best team in Florida is the Gators. Aside from their loss at Arkansas they have absolutely destroyed ever team in the SEC by 15+.

There's no chance in hell I would choose Miami over Florida if I was a big time high school basketball player. And this is coming from the perspective of a Junior in high school.

Well isn't that why the NCAA paid his attorney to get other people under oath? And didn't Shapiro's attorney get other people under oath? And hasn't Miami only skated because of process and not substance? And isn't that program kind of the faunt of all sports evil, between the whole paying players and giving out banned substances thing? What am I missing here? Please, help me...what am I missing here?

Miami is talented as hell this year and as someone pointed out is riding the perfect storm this year........the ACC isn't too good as you saw with Clemson last night as they are plain dreadful. They are not playing a tough game night in-noght out but have proven to be a very good team against the upper echelon. I doubt they have the ability to win 6 in a row as they throw too many stinkers up like last night............Maybe Elite 8 if set uop well but could go after 16..........also how is Scott still playing and how are they still playing and we can't?
