[QUOTE="caseyb7, post: 5341532, member: 9520"] Saw the game, watched Cheryl's interview. If you haven't seen her interview, it is worth 2 minutes of your time. Basically Cheryl is saying the the overly zealous physicality is bad for the sport, hurts players, causes fights, increases fouls - all the things that any UConn fan knows from watching the lesser skilled teams mug the Huskies in an attempt to intimidate, disrupt play, gain an edge when the skill base to compete is just not present. As a result, we all hold our breath as players crash to the ground clutching injured body parts hoping for the best. UConn is not the only victim here nor are the Lynx. I'm a long time women's fan & love the skill set, grace, fluidity & basketball acumen many top teams possess and I get the pleasure to watch - WNBA, WNCAA. To my eye the "if you can't compete, just rough em up" strategy detracts from the game. This isn't rugby or the UFC, it is a presentation of skill from talented women who have practiced their entire lives, thousands of hours, to perfect it and present to the public in an orchestrated team event. But, as Cheryl references, for some reason the ruling clique think violence is more marketable than skill. Appears she is correct. Hope she & Phee are okay.
