The above link is to the British Women's Open....the 4th of 5 majors.

This link is to a World Golf event for the men in Akron....limited to top 50 in their world rankings.

Idle thoughts: it will be an upset if an international player does not win the women's British Open...they are dominating the year.

Tiger has won on this course 8 times....yikes! His good play at the British Open squeezed him in at #50.
I galleried at Firestone South several times about 50 years ago [double yikes!]. Olde fashioned...tree-lined...monster par 5 #16...a good/fair test though it doesn't play as tough as it used to due to crazy length of modern players.

Firestone is a solid, classic course. Yes, Tiger was better than even money to win when he played there. I think he has close to 8 wins at Torrey Pines and Bay Hill as well.

I am hoping Lydia Ko (4 under) tied for 8th place makes a strong showing. I hate that her trajectory has plummeted so far.

Tiger finished at -4 (T13). Stanley is in the clubhouse at -7. Poulter is on the course at -8. Scores are low today.

Just checked in on the Womens British open. Fantastic ending shaping up between Georgia Hall (British) and Pornanong Phatlum (Thailand) through 15. Tied at -17 under. I thing the record was -19. Both players are basically newbies but no wilting in evidence.

Edit: Phatlum had real problems at then end with a double bogie on 17 ending at -15. Hall wins with no pressure -17 under. :)

Interview: Complete deadpan as we would expect from a Brit. ;)
