thank you for posting this (and, the other tourney links that you post). I was just going to find the website, and "ta-dah!", there you had it!

At one point Lucy was 3 over after 4....seems to have steadied herself and is now 4 over after 11.
I saw a bit of her presser yesterday....she came across as a giggly, bubbly 11 year old....perfect!
They showed her on the range....has a nice fluid swing with great tempo...not a lot of clubhead speed which will hurt her on this longish course. Lucy...just have fun.

Lucy has one gorgeous swing. What impressed me the most though, was her course management. Talk about a tough course, 'ol Pinehurst 2 is bringing a lot of great players to their knees, men and women both. Jessica Korda did not even make the cut, and she can play. She is long, and has won 2 tournaments already this year
Lil Lucy was hitting 3 & 4 wood approach shots where most of the ladies were hitting irons. But she would hit those fairway metals short of the green and let it roll up. Very impressive.

rRight now it looks as if Michelle Wie and Lexi will be going off in the last group. Talk about length ! On this course it really helps, because the closer you can get to the green the higher you can hit your approach, and that helps their ball to stay on those wicked greens.

My guess is that the LPGA brass is praying for a back nine Sunday duel
between Wiesy and Lexi...with Michelle pulling it out. Overall of late the
Americans have been playing much better and winning their share of events against
the international playes notably the Asian contingent.

Props to Michelle for some fine consistent play over the last few months...Lexi with a win
in the first major a couple of months ago.

It looks like Thompson has played herself out of it - too bad. Wie has a great shot tomorrow and IMO it could be the final chapter of her "rehabilitation".

But the real story could be the old lady. That's who I will be rooting for.

I don't think Lexy is totally out of it. She could go low, like Julie Inkster, who at 53 shot a neat 66. Stranger things have happened.

It would be neat for Lexi to capture the 1st 2 majors, but I would also like to see Michelle Wie win her 1st career major. She is now playing the best golf of her career. She has graduated from Stanford, gotten away from her parents a little bit, and now we are seeing the Michelle Wie that all the experts, and golf fans have expected.

One word can describe the resurgence, putting. She has been working with Dave Stockton, and his sons. She plays with a lot more confidence now, and it shows. Also, her new bent over putting style seems to be working.

The tabletop putting style is Michelle's idea. She left Dave Stockton several years ago. She had tried from conventional putters to belly bats to craw grips and nothing worked.

Finally, the current style (named Wiegeling by a sports writer) is working and she has gone from 126th in putting stats on tour in 2012 to a respectable 39th.

There is no doubt that she has done things "her way"!

.

And since she is only one stroke out of 3rd, she doesn't even have to go real low IF the top two play poorly. In that case, a 68 could win it.

There are 11 players within 5 strokes of the leaders. Anyone of these can win.

But I don't think Wie or Yang will come back to the pack as they are 4 strokes up. Should be interesting to watch though. Best W US Open in a while.

The turtle back greens are hard to stay on. John Daly made an 11 at the par 4 8th at the 1999 US Open, same hole that Lexie had her first double yesterday. One bad swing can be disastrous.

Michelle Wie just made THE putt of her career. After a double bogey on 16, she came back and made a 20 ft bender. Hit 18 in regulation, and now putting for the National Championship. A bogey will win it...she made her par put to win by 2 over Stacey Lewis.

Congratulations Michelle. you deserved it

Ms Wie has, at most, one more year left with that table top putting stance before her back and the backs of her legs violently suggest a change. Quite unique, all her own, and it was successful this weekend.

There was a lot of concern about that early in the year but I read some comments from doctors that looked at her stance and they all seemed to feel that her posture actually puts little strain on her back. I don't get the back of the legs issue - she's 21 years old and as you can see from this putting stance she doesn't seem to have any flexibility issues.

My concerns are not based upon anything other than my own personal back issues, so I hope you are right about Ms Wie who will be 25 in October.

Really enjoyed watching Wie win yesterday. That birdie on 17 really shows how far she has come in terms of developing confidence and resilience. She was mentally strong all day yesterday. She made very few mistakes and when she did she bounced back really well.

The putting style seems to be working for her. No three-putts all week on those tricky Pinehurst greens.

Mind-boggling for anyone!

Great win, great maturity to hold it together after the double, just a fun moment. So glad to see her break through. I noted that the announcer said she was extremely popular with the other tour players so the congratulatory champagne-spraying at the end was even better than usual.

Lucy Li was awesome! She just went about her business while playing her round like she's been doing it for years. Has a lot of poise and muturity for such a youngster.

Just adorable as well!

I missed watching the rest of the tournament but am glad that Michelle Wie has finally gotten over the hump. She could become the "Tiger" of the women's side of golf.

Most important about Lucy Li is that all of her behavior was age appropriate. She wasn't forced to be a small adult. She was just a kid having a great time and enjoying the ice cream and playing golf most adults could only dream of on the set up of Pinehurst #2.

So happy for Michelle. I've been a fan of her's since the beginning and I'm glad to see her game really starting to take off.

She could...and yet she's still only ranked #7 in the world. Which is actually pretty awesome. There are multiple strong players who consistently contend, which makes women's golf more compelling because we can get to really know these players.

The Top 7:
1. Stacy Lewis (Age 29)
2. Inbee Park (25)
3. Lydia Ko (17)
4. Suzann Pettersen (33)
5. Lexi Thompson (19)
6. Karrie Webb (39)
7. Michelle Wie (24)

Minus Webb, they will all be around for a while. They'll be battling for championships on Sundays for years to come.

What happened to Ochoa? Did she retire or something?

Retired in 2010 citing a desire to be closer to home and work on her charitable foundation. She got married in December 2009 and ended up having her first child in 2011, so I'm guessing starting a family was also a big part of it.
