Honestly, all-seasons are fine unless you're driving on unplowed roads regularly. I put Nokian all-seasons on her current car (about 80-90% snow tire ability) for that reason. I've been stuck on hills and had to be winched up going to our house in VT. AWD in an old Lexus RX. Confirmed the importance of tires but also that that AWD system sucked.
