Also saw yesterday Jerry Stackhouse is the favorite at Vanderbilt and not Dawkins. Obviously Sampson is better than Dawkins but still good for UCF to keep him, think its a great fit

Not really the same situation. Nate Oats was getting $837K/year with his contract extension at Buffalo. He's now getting $2.45M/year at Alabama.

Sampson's contract extension puts him close to $3M/year (about double what he currently makes right now).

Right but he can still leave tomorrow for a bigger better job. Having said that, It's great Houston went all out and I think you're right.

Yeah, Arkansas/SEC could still be appealing in the sense that you don't need to go 31-3 just to get a 3 seed.

But also, a lot harder to go 31-3 in the SEC than in the American.

With stats like WAB/Parcells getting more popular, it's going to level the playing field for record quality in different leagues. Hopefully.

If Memphis isn't good next year with all their recruits I'd be shocked.

If we aren't good with all of our recruits I'll be shocked.

In any event, this is big for Houston and the league.

I think it's $2.75M/year and that puts him around top 30 based on this list: USA TODAY Sports
yeah, I believe his salary goes up after this year to the 3M area and then 3.25M after that. I think it was loaded toward the end of the contract
