Jon Embree is out at Colorado after two seasons, two sources told CBSSports.com Sunday afternoon. The Buffs went 4-21 in his two seasons at CU. This year Embree's team went 1-11.
Less than 48 hours ago, Embree told reporters that Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn had assured him he will return in 2013. But on Sunday afternoon the coach was informed by the AD of the change.

The 47-year-old former CU tight end had replaced Dan Hawkins who spent five years at Colorado and went 19-39

Colorado took bad to another level this year. Teams were laying 50 points on them by halftime on a regular basis.

Auburn also. Looks like three years may no longer be the norm........

????? Chizik was 33-19 in four seasons and 15-17 in SEC games???? 2 years after winning National Championship but he was hired in 2009.

I like the above (highlited) part.

I hope that Dez reads this.

You see the difference between the COLO team and the UCONN team?

yup one loses games and then goes home and rolls around in cash. the other loses a few less games but has to walk home because money is so tight that we can't spend 1 million to mkae 50 million down the road.

Look at the scores of COL and UCONN games. One team was just a tad less competitive.

Take away our first halves and it is pretty close. We also don't play a Pac-12 schedule.

i know colorado is poopies on the field. but they were a project when he came in and they clearly dont think the project was doing well so they are spending $ to fix it. we are not. the projects are a bit different but the decision should be the same...

Not really close.

Again, just for the record, I am not arguing that P should remain, just that he will. And am trying to explain the difference between our situation and other team's situations.

3-4 years is the norm, like it or not.

Does 66-3 mean anything to you?

“@BFeldmanCBS: Folks inside CU athletics community stunned by AD's move to dump Jon Embree after just 2 years after Hawkins got 5.”

But went backwards year over year. Look @ last 5 years @ Ralphie U. Much uglier than here.

Some think paradigm is shifting...

HCs/agents will fight for good buyout money b/c, as case w/ Embree, 3-year startup no longer automatic. Leash is two years -- and shortening

I was wondering this last night... with the new super conference paradigm, I am thinking that 2 years will be it, you produce or you are out. Smaller schools will become the coaching feeder system, so coaching talent will be snapped up and paid only for production (wins not relationships) at the bigger schools.

Benjamins and Ws... see all the coaching turnover this year, like O'Brien even though he was 7-5... winning season, but not consistent enough to keep management happy.

the south miss coach just got the can. how long was he there for?
