Can't believe I just discovered this guy a few months ago, everything I've heard from him has been inspired. Guy has so much soul, takes me to church.

Seen him a bunch (both with Mofro, and as part of the Southern Soul Assembly) over the last ten years or more. Good performer who always finds a way to bring each song to an emotional peak with his voice.

My only complaint, and it's a slight one, is that he's getting to be a bit formulaic with his own material imo.

He also does a great job with reggae, like helping Anders Osborne out on Anders's song "Marmalade" here (from when I saw them in Norwalk a few years ago).

Anders, on the other hand, is one of my favorites and is anything but formulaic, frequently changing gears and styles.

Speaking of being taken to church, I've been doing some research for this year's Jazz Fest and just came across the Mississippi Mass Choir. Good God!
