The Voice has gone silent. Don Pardo passes away at the ripe old age of 96.

He was always "ready for prime time!"

Met -- encountered would be a better word -- Don Pardo twice on the same day sometime in the late 60s. It happened when he, during the warmup, wandered into the audience of two tv-show tapings I went to see, approaching my then-wife and I for some pleasantry or other at both.

Talk about staying power: 96. Remarkable that his pipes endured for so long.
