Bruins were pathetic in Q2 and especially Q3. They could not handle the most basic forechecking.

How the heck Montreal make it this far? Hope they beat Colorado or LV. Have a SC with both teams east of the Mississippi.

Bruins D and penalty kill weren't good enough, plain and simple. Miller and Carlo injuries hurt their depth and McAvoy got blasted without penalty in this one. All 3 of the goals in the deciding 2nd period came from D unit turnovers. They let Islanders score on their first 3 power play goals last game. That's the series.

The Islanders played well, but they mostly just played solid and were opportunistic when the Bruins beat themselves.

That's exactly how they beat the Pens - and a better goalie. Pens outplayed the Isles 80% of time yet still lost in six. Pens had 50 more SOG than Isles in the series. Difference in the two series was Pens beat up Varlamov and couldn't get to Sorokin (who won all four games), Bruins were opposite.

As a huge Bruins fan this series hurts bad. It was so evident how poor the Bruins defense is. They are awful getting out of their own zone. They continue to kick away the last of the prime years for Bergeron and Marchand. Need a total overhaul on defense or they won’t win anything.

Agreed. B's were feeble. I know hockey has changed, but a team that has any self respect sends Palmieri off with a broken nose or missing teeth after that cheap shot with no call. Take the major penalty. Show some life. But the defense kept turning it over, Rask was not good, and the second and third lines couldn't get anything going.

Time for a shakeup. Trade Krejci. Bring in some physical forwards. Bring in more physical, capable defensemen. Trade Rask if he's tradeable. This has gone on since they lost to a much more physical Blues team in the final a few years ago. The team isn't built for playoff hockey.

Even though the Isles won the first five match ups in the regular season, the Bruins dominated the last three. As an Isles fan for 40+ years, I wasn't hopeful after the Game 1 result. isles really are a Jekyll and Hyde type of team. Both teams were extremely physical and the hitting on both sides was awesome. Boston was thin at the blueline and really got the majority of their production out of one line. Tampa is so freaking deep on bot sides of the puck...it's scary.

You always have to wonder if this series would have been much different if Miller and Carlo didn't get hurt. The D was just absolutely horrendous without both of them.
